I’m just curious how many folk with this condition navigate in the dark or with eyes closed fairly well, navigation by sounding?

Left ear has serious tinnitus and I can barely hear with it. Right ear has mild tinnitus. Difficult for me to have a conversation in a restaurant or crowded room.

And nothing fixes it either. Fancy hearing aides ($5K+) help some, but not enough.

I guess I have a mild case in my left ear. I never notice it unless I think about it (like now) or when everything gets quite. I have to sleep with a fan running or it will drive me crazy.

If I go outside at night I can't hear the bugs in the yard, my ears are ringing louder than the bugs.

I have it in my left ear kinda bad at times. I have a hard time hearing in a crowd. If music is playing in the background of a crowded place then ill go nuts just trying to hear someone talking to me.

Only relief I ever get from my tinnitus is sleeping with a sound machine on. I have it pretty bad from military aviation and the military in general. I get a weird ticking noise in my left ear sometimes as well. Like someone tapping a pen on glass.

I have it, a steady buzzing.

Have laid off caffeine and nothing changed. Tried niacin, nothing changed. Keep my ears clean, nothing changed. When taking anything like a decongestant, nothing changes.

I have it real bad and have dealt with it for many years.

It never stops and nothing I have ever tried has helped it.

This! There’s no fix for it. You can only distract your mind with other noises.

Same here but it’s my own fault. Didn’t wear hearing protection when I was younger. All I thought about was getting the job done and moving on the next one. Plus didn’t wear my ear plugs when operating top grade military equipment or firing weapons.

I don't know if it's tinnitus or something else, but I do sometimes have a ringing in my ears.....it comes/goes. My 2 biggest problems is that I have trouble making out a sound when there's a lot of background noise, like someone talking to me in a noisy room, and I have trouble pinpointing the direction of sound..............which especially sucks in the turkey woods because unless a gobble is CLOSE, I struggle really bad to determine the direction it came from. If a bird gobbles a few times in succession, I can usually turn my head a little in between and it helps pinpoint the general direction, but if it's just 1 faint gobble, it's useless.

Nothing like the sound of a thousand mosquitoes flying around inside your head. Mine seems to get worse as a cold front approaches. But it is a constant companion.. Every. Waking. Moment.

You have a hearing loss.
Tinnitus is associated with hearing loss.
I have learned to live with it and there is no rhyme or reason to what triggers an increase for mine.

My ears have been ringing since i was probably 20 years old. I shot in dove shoots twice a week when beginning at 14 years of age till I was about 22-23 years old. I’ve had my hearing checked a couple times and been told it’s fine. I’ve gotten used to it.

Had it for the last ten years. Sometimes the ringing is unbearable. Nicotine, alcohol and caffeine are supposed to make it worse but for me, I haven’t noticed any discernible difference. Loud background noise is the only temporary relief.

Mine is cured instantly every time I fire a gun without hearing protection in place, but it returns in force very shortly afterwards.

I would like to find some type of hearing device
to avoid turning the TV up so high. Wireless would
naturally be the preference and not being
a techie I wonder if there is a reasonably prced
solution? Wifi or Bluetooth? Whatever

Gotcha a tv that is bluetooth capable and a set of Trex Titanium Sport bone conduction headset is a perfect t solution. Said it here before, some if the best money I ever spent.

I keep a small fan on my desk in the clinic. That constant noise helps some and I run a fan at night in bedroom. Low level white noise may or may not help.

I have all the symptoms previously mentioned. Very hard to hear voices with background noise. At night I use a white noise machine set on raindrops to help me fall asleep. They are cheap and help a lot.

24/7/365 for years and it is getting worse especially when talking to someone that speaks softly. Office setting or meeting when several are talking is rough. I sleep with a fan or I would go crazy.

Mine started all of the sudden about 10 years ago. It also stopped all of the sudden about 8 years ago.

If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14

I've had it for several years now. I can usually tune it out. Then, somebody mentions it or I let myself notice it like right now.

I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.
