Can you imagine football without practice? It would be worse than watching some neighborhood yard ball game. Not really, as long as they can get the athletes back on campus by July, they will be fine and you'll see no drop off in the level of play. NCAA severely limits practice and almost all summer practice is organized and run by the players based on scripts from the coaches who are basically not allowed to interact with the players or be on the field until fall camp starts. Furthermore, the number of fall camp practices days and hours allowed per day are also carefully regulated by the NCAA. If it is out of here by July, they could easily allow additional practices to make up for the lost spring practice time and then expand the practices and practice time allotments for fall camps and you'd see teams fully ready to play. The decision on fall football will not have to be made for another 100 days.

They better announce it before the draft. Alot of draft eligible kids coming back with alot at risk. They could enter the draft vs wasting aast year. $$$

Fauci said yesterday we would be under some form of social distancing until a vaccine is developed 18 months from now. I seriously doubt we are going to wreck the economy and then a few months later while the virus is still novel let 80.000 people crowd in a stadium

If they're not having in-person summer courses at universities there's no way they make exceptions for the athletes, just to play games in front of 80K+ fans and more outside the stadiums.
Football players work out in summer and pretty much start filtering back in July if they're not already on campus. Managers and trainers are there prepping for fall drills and seasons. Practice starts in August. Games start a month later.
Y'all really think any of that is going to happen in just 4-5 months with all this going on? Like it's going to return to even semi-normal just for football and sports?
If you were on a school board or are a parent, are you cool with sending your child - of any age - back to K-12 classes from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. five days a week? If you're a teacher would you want to be part of that process in-person with 25-30 kids, or monitoring the cafeteria, or conducting PE classes or band or anything else?

Saban said yesterday that if they are able to play this season he hopes that the NCAA will give them 14 additional practice days in “fall” camp that everybody missed in the spring. If this happens then based on recent “fall” camps Bama won’t be able to field a defense. I put fall in quotations because it’s still summer at that time.

If this happens, does that mean universities and high schools would still be online classes ONLY ? ALL fall sports would be cancelled, youth, high school, college, pros. WOW !!! Probably. Universities already have announced summer classes will be online. No students on campus means no athletes, either. No athletes, no practice, no seasons. K-12 schools usually follow the lead of the universities. Everything trickles downhill.

I know 2 professionals pitchers one for the brave and one for the cubs I know it’s not college there still getting a check for now. Which is a huge difference than college players. They are throwing running and working on there game every day. They are having to stay in shape. I hope college coaches are in touch with there players. Who knows.

Why couldn't they play and just have no one in the stadiums? Everything either live stream or television broadcast. Don't they get most of their revenue from television anyway? I'm sure it would be a struggle for smaller colleges regardless. Because they would be ramming face masks against each other and spitting and sweating all over each other and traveling across the country to do it with another group of people the next week

Y’all see where Saban sent his guys home with Apple watches? Allows trainers to monitor their activity, sleep, etc. other teams calling foul.

I'm sure it would be a struggle for smaller colleges regardless. . Some money is better than "No," money, but colleges depend on the revenue from ticket sales and concessions, their money deal is not like the NFL's TV rights. . Y’all see where Saban sent his guys home with Apple watches? Allows trainers to monitor their activity, sleep, etc. other teams calling foul. . They are just mad because Saban thought of it first, and they are playing catchup. Big whooptie do, a watch to help them stay conditioned and to cut down on injuries when they do start back.

I know 2 professionals pitchers one for the brave and one for the cubs I know it’s not college there still getting a check for now. Which is a huge difference than college players. They are throwing running and working on there game every day. They are having to stay in shape. I hope college coaches are in touch with there players. Who knows. My sons roommate is a pitcher with the reds organization and he doesn’t believe they are coming back this season. Only good side to this corona was the last time they flew to Phoenix they both ran a fever and had to stay in the house for a week and we believe they had it and weren’t hit that hard by it. And yes he is still getting paid also. But I heard on MLB radio the other day they are wanting them to take a 25 percent pay cut but the players union wants 15 percent. And this all teams playing in Phoenix with the electronic strike zone and all teams being quarantined to their hotels isn’t going to go over well with the players of modern day. Just my opinion

Don’t know about football, but my daughter is a teacher in the Catholic school system and they are returning to school on May 4th. My wife is a public school teacher and she was ready to back yesterday. If my daughter was still in school I would have no problem with her going back to school as a student either.

I hope things work smoothly for them, Big T, and everything goes well.
Are they extending the school year?

I will ask my daughter and let you know. No extension. Just finish it as usual. Of course this seems tentative on what the Government allows but the Archbishop is planning on opening

Not going to say which team, but a team meeting was held yesterday via Zoom for a D1 school. My son plays D1 football, so you can infer what you want to as to the source. Team was told that they, as well as other schools are hoping to have athletes back on campus by mid-July. The school involved, as well as others, anticipate having students back on campus for the normal fall semester. Naturally whether that actually happens or not will depend on a lot of unknowns and other factors, but this had to have been discussed by all teams and schools in the conference involved. Im also relatively sure that state health officials in multiple states as well as other conferences were also involved prior to the Zoom conference with said team. Players had been told to expect this Zoom conference for almost 10 days before it actually occurred. I can only assume the delay was related to active discussoins taking place daily with health experts, other coaches, ADs and school administrators within the conference and beyond and they did not want to let the players know anything until they had what they felt was at least semi-reliable information. We shall see what actually happens but with states starting to open back up, the information I got seems somewhat reasonable.
