So Mrs. Irish's mom, Willene, is now in the assisted living facility and it really enjoying it there. We have been cleaning her house out and getting it ready to sell. Saturday we came across her cast iron pans and I split them with my brother in law. Our bounty was 3 older Birmingham Stove & Range cast iron skillets, with the neatest one being an even older "Red Mountain" hand written series, which was made in the 1920's so it's close to 100 years old. I made sausage in it this morning...

cool.
What is the little round deal with the handle on the left of the skillet containing the miscellaneous things.

Yep... Those were some other finds. God only knows how many biscuits that thing has cut. Same thing with the skillet. Think of the meager rations that thing must have cooked in the Great Depression and the hungry folks that were damn glad to have those meals.

This pic was after I cleaned them up a little bit. They cook just fine now so I'm not going to "restore" any of them. I'm going to keep on cooking with them just like they are.

Found a place for all our cabin cast iron to hang, just across from the pantry as you walk into the half bath.

Cool . I've got my granny's rolling pin, biscuit cutter ( a Vienna can) one of her cast iron skillets and a quilt.

We have measuring spoons like those, and I wish I had my great grandmother's biscuit cutter. Great heirlooms, Irish.

I think he meant porcelain throne.

Well... our cabin is pretty small, so there's not a lot of wall space. And those are across the little hallway from the pantry and outside the door to the half bath. I think the only way they could get fecal matter on them is for Straycat to come over and use the John. grin In which case we would move out for a few days anyway.

I thought they were pretty cool too. You hate to see stuff with that much family history just tossed or give to Goodwill... Especially stuff that you personally will use. I'll use the hell out of the biscuit cutter, the measuring spoons, the cast iron and the french fry cutter too.

I figured you would like them. All are BS&R except for the two in the lower left of the wall hanging picture. Those two are older Lodge back when they made good stuff.

The prize of the bunch is the handwritten 1920's BS&R #8. That's kind of like the Winchester 1873 of skillets.
