At the club giving it a go. No luck yesterday.
Do you want to hear him gobble, or do you want to kill him.

I knocked one down yesterday and it got up and ran off.
Killed one this morning. I’m still at camp so it will be a few days before I fool with much on here. My son got his first solo bird yesterday.
Do you want to hear him gobble, or do you want to kill him.

My son got his first solo bird yesterday. get Congrats Brandon and everyone else who has connected already. I was close to sealing the deal on Wednesday at the club in Marion County. He came in to around 60 yards and either seen me or knew something wasn't right. I went today and only seen two hens and never heard the first gobble. I'll be back after em Sunday. If anyone would like to team up for a public land hunt....let me know. My schedule is pretty flexible. Good luck guys.

Congrats to those who have connected so far. I’m after em this morning at the club in Marion County. I’ve heard 6 or 7 different birds already and one out on a cutover at around 150 yards and couldn’t ever get him to come in. He never did gobble. I’m guessing he was just sitting and waiting on a hen to come thru because that’s what ended up happening. I’m now in search for one of the. It’s that was gobbling early. Good luck to those in the woods today.

Got another one this week and helped a friend get his first bird.
Do you want to hear him gobble, or do you want to kill him.

I killed one a week or so ago and have a couple more opportunities but they stayed just a little out of range. I also called one in the other afternoon for my oldest. He took took out two trees instead of the bird 😁. That bird didn’t gobble until 6:45 that afternoon and I called him in from around 500 yards out. He didn’t shoot until 7:15. I was really surprised that he even got a shot with it being that late in the day. Then two days ago, I called two different birds in for him and he never shot (said he thought they were to far (one way 30 yards and the other came in to 35 yards) were back at em again today and haven’t heard the first bird. Maybe it’s the weather that has got them tight lipped.

Hey guys...I’m still after em. It’s getting tough here in Marion County. The birds have gotten a case of the tight lip the past week or so. I’ve heard two different birds this morning and both went silent when they hit the ground.

Been a tough season. Henned up just about every morning. One morning last week heard 342 gobbles. Heard 4 gobbles this morning, only one was close glad i didn't chase after him otherwise would have blown it. This one I got I saw twice before. About a week ago he pitched off the roost away from me and kept moving off my property. About 2 weeks ago he snuck up on me and busted me listening. He didn't like to gobble on the roost and he didn't this morning. Was roosted with 5+ hens. 2 hens pitched out away from me and I gave a couple soft yelps after each pitched down. Another hen pitched away as well and I clucked and purred. Within a minute or two I head a little flapping and a thud. He hit the ground 40 yds away, did a partial strut and drummed a bit. Had to wait for him to go behind a tree and get the gun up. Dropped him like a stone at 30 yds. First kill with TSS and the new 20 ga Yildiz Youth O/U. Got 3 days left up here and couple birds still around, so maybe I can up my score. Lack of spurs hurts that score but I am happy as a clam to get him. Team 10 Slughunter 4/30/20 18 lbs 15 oz 9.5 in beard No spurs. NWTF Score: 37.9375

Congratulations. I should still get to hunt a few more days in other states. I finished up today here at home. Managed to get a few myself. I will post mine up before it’s over with. Hope to get some upgrades. Mostly encounter 2 year olds this year. But it’s been great.
Do you want to hear him gobble, or do you want to kill him.

Well at least I put the one up on the board. Other years I've participated I didn't score at all. 27 hunts approx 1900 gobbles; I participate in the state avid turkey survey so I count gobbles every hunt. Spent 75% of my hunts on my lease which will be my place in a couple weeks when we close on the purchase. Glad we pulled the trigger on purchasing this place, been leasing it for nearly 30 years. It is a hell of a turkey property for only 120 acres. Usually at least one 4-5 yo buck each year too.
Time for the post season hangover. Though, I'm tempted to try and hunt TN this weekend but never been up there and I've got a ton of projects that got put off while I hunted last month. Start prepping for deer season next weekend; that will ease my mind.
Good luck guys still hunting in other states.

Got one in Kentucky this week. Not sure if I will get any or many more days in the spring woods.
Do you want to hear him gobble, or do you want to kill him.
