I think we will have a good shot at it. Yek and I are making a run to Texas/Oklahoma and Nebraska as long as the corona bug doesn’t shut everything down.

Brandon I ain't going to lie to ya......I looked three times at this team when I was drawing names. I was thinking about moving people around because it was such a strong team, but I just let the numbers fall where they were. Team 11 is a goodun too.

Congrats limbhanger! Close call for me this morning, but no bird to show. In a thick bottom, had him close enough to hear drumming a few times but never was able to lay eyes on him.

That turkey had a nice beard limbhanger

Guys I had a great hunt this am. I slipped in blind to a spot I’ve killed before. I got in real early and set up and just sat there listening to the woods awaken. The first crow called and he hammered about 200 yards down the creek. I just stayed put. He gobbled again on his own about 3 min later. I let him do that 5 times and called lightly. He never responded. I sat tight. Several minutes passed and he gobbled on his own again. I called and he went dead silent for 30+ min. Then a hen got fired up across the creek and I got fired up with her. He started hammering it but was with the hens. I got them so fired up they pitched up in the trees looking for me, which I can’t recall having happened before. Rather than follow them up in a tree, he said not today, and simply followed the creek around to a shallow crossing. They started pitching out to my left up the hill and working away. The whole time I’m responding to them. He gets fired up and struts right in to 35 yards. It was awesome to hear and see given the dead silence I’ve experienced the last few days. He scored 62.75. Weighed 21 lbs 4 oz. Healthy joker.

I got my butt kicked today. Such a beautiful day. Can’t imagine birds not gobbling but they didn’t. 7 hours and 6 miles in the woods. Have not seen or heard a turkey.

The turkey I hunted only gobbled three times on the limb Matt. He was roosted with fidylebm hens. We probably could have waited out the flock where we were sitting, but my little buddy was getting carried of by skeeters and we snuck out about 8. Going alone in the morning, and gonna try to get close to their roost in the dark.

Get after em. I reckon I’m gonna go again too. Trying to find an easier bird to get to for my son but they’re tight lipped. I’ll likely go solo again myself.

That’s how Wednesday was for me, didn’t hear a peep. Yesterday i heard 8 different birds before 10:00 I think. They finally broke loose.

You hunting up in North Bama? I got the same reports from up there..... dead the first 5 days and then the light switch flipped and all of a sudden birds were on fire.

I finally struck a bird today at 11 on public land and had him coming hot. Then somebody else got involved.

Same here, they are getting there, maybe another week off of prime pickings but starting to act like a turkey should.

Had a great hunt this morning. Found a bird yesterday afternoon by mistake and the goofwad roosted behind my house. Only the second turkey I’ve killed here in 20+ years. We just don’t have turkeys here on this side of the road much. He was lonely, as I figured he would be. Had to move a few times to get where I could get him to cross a creek. After he crossed it was game over. Strutted to the barrel. First double Beard too.

I went to a friends farm to try and call him up his first bird. Called one up straight from the roost, but he smelled a rat at 60 yards and eased off.

Well I was able to get two in range and was hopeful for a double. Needless to say I never got a shot and my buddy gave them both a heart attack. Headed back in there in the morning.

Had one at 50 steps this morning around lunch and he gave me the slip. Seen something he did not like and went the other way.

Stay after em. This is the first day I haven’t been. I had to have a break. I’ll get back after it tomorrow.

I’m back at work today, but hunted 7 mornings and they are not gobbling much at all. I know they are there because of fresh tracks on sandy roads, just not gobbling

Beats all I’ve ever seen. We had a two year old age class on cameras that’s out of this world. Most turkeys we’ve had in decades. I’ve got tracks in roads, scratching, all the sign. Hens are busting up nesting, yet nothing is gobbling. I can’t see or hear a bird anywhere.

I’m gonna work tomorrow and Saturday, then take the rest of the hitch off and hunt 10-11 days. I gotta believe they are about to break loose.

Got on some different scenery today and took a friend on his place. Called up his first bird. It was nice to hear a turkey!

Yek and I ended up cancelling our Texas trip, so I am at his camp for the weekend. We have burned over 8 miles of boot leather, but these suckers have no intentions of gobbling once they fly down. They just ain’t ready to die yet.

My buddy in my club killed one that gobbled good this morning, and it’s been extremely tough before that. I hope it’s about to break loose

AU Coonhunter, I’m questioning whether our TX trip is a go. We were scheduled to be coming back to AL today and we haven’t left for TX yet.

Maybe it’ll bust loose this week. I’ve got to get my oldest a bird before he self implodes.

Rough start to the season in my neck of the woods. I’ve been forced to work more and hunt less due to coronavirus, but I still should be on the board by now. Much like Matt said, I’ve had more turkeys on camera, more scratching, more tracks than I’ve seen in awhile...but the birds just aren’t gobbling much. I’ve heard gobbling 4 of the 5 mornings I’ve been but only one bird has gobbled on the ground. I had him close enough to hear him drum off and on for 30 minutes but never laid eyes on him. Hopefully they’ll bust loose soon and most of the hens will go to nest. I’m gonna keep after them. Good luck fellas

I’m hoping I can pull my weight with one more bird. It’s slim pickings for now. I hope it turns a corner soon. I’ve had 8 mornings I haven’t heard a single turkey. My TX trip is cancelled. It’ll all work out.

Don’t stress about it Matt. I’ve only got one down so far, turkeys ain’t acting right, and two boys that I will let shoot every time if they want to. I’ve also had to cancel my last two trips, so I might not be much of a teammate either.

Turkeyjoe I’ve had my oldest son with me the last few trips. Poor guy is already asleep. We are playing the Long game now. Sit and wait. I hate doing that.

I hope the rest of y’all kill 3 huge birds, cause it ain’t looking good for me. Not for lack of trying, but after 7 hunts I have only sat down on two turkeys. Only one of those was on my property. The other was about 200 yards off the line. Most of my mornings have consisted of lots of walking and lots of sitting on property lines listening to birds gobble on the other side. It’s been Frustrating to say the least. Hopefully that will change soon. Sorry to be dead weight so far fellas

Congrats to Micah!! That’s good. I got on one gobbling good on the limb. When he hit the ground the next time he gobbled was 300 yards in the opposite direction and I never did find him after that.

Well I’m happy I was able to get one for us. Been a great year but with COVID-19 and my mom finding out she has breast cancer really made it tough. Great news is she is doing great. No more than I got to go I was blessed with great hunts all year. I had a blast this year talking turkey with you all.
