I’ve used, invented, and observed from others about everything in the way of hog baits over the years and I think the thing that works best is:

Powdered or regular sugar
Corn Flour
Wheat flour

Mix and deploy

They just get flat out addicted to the sugar I think. They track the stuff everywheres, it gets all over them, they lick each other, its lightweight. I think it gets all up their noses and screws the olfactory enough to increase your hunt success, and they keep coming back for more. This is effective for the sounder mix.

I do have goodluck with a piece of carpet around a tree trunk soaked in used axle and motor oil for a rub. This works great for popping those lone big boars in the late afternoon usually between 30 min-2hrs before sunset. I take some nice boars this way because I ain’t figured out when the big boys eat. They will walk right over all kinds of bait going wherever it is they go.

I've found abandoned creosote power poles or fence poles out in the woods where the hogs have about rubbed the post in half. They love the creosote, I guess it is to get the lice off of them.

They do like creosote, wish I could buy it in buckets

You can make it yourself.
Use 1 gallon of coal tar, 1 gallon of Diesel Fuel, 1 gallon of burned Diesel oil and 1/2 lb of feed salt.
Stir well and enjoy.

I'm gonna have to come up with one of them rub concoctions.

I’ve heard its actually the sulfur that attracts them to the stuff, some guys mix diesel with corn but supposedly some diesel thats high in sulfur works better.

I guess you could add Sulphur to that recipe. You won't find real diesel fuel anymore. Even off road diesel is watered down low sulfur.
But I do know for a fact that diesel soaked corn will bring em in, I've used it. Not a lot of diesel, just enough to wet the corn.

They eat anything but its funny the stuff they go ape over and what they’ll step over until they are ready to eat it.

I made some cookies for hogs but they don’t bust butt to get them but the deer and squirrels will run you over.

Like a cup of Oats, corn meal, hog wild, an egg for binder, and pancake syrup. Make a cookies out of it and bake for 45 min at 225, not trying to cook, just firm them up.

If you have this in a tree with you, squirrels will pester ya

Don’t get me wrong I love hog hunting but I ain’t baking them cookies and goin through all the effort of mixing a bunch of stuff when they line up to die for plain corn.

If you like feeding deer, coons, crows, and turkeys then corn works great.
Nothing but a hog will touch diesel corn.

Corn doesn’t work like this. Not looking to “feed”, looking to bring them in fast, shot two nice bucks on them this year. One buck was a 4 1/2 year old 8pt, the other a 6 year old 12pt.

Big Boar Hogs nor big bucks “line up to die” with regular baits. Boars are too smart, and big bucks in rut don’t eat much thus loose a good portion of body weight.

I do love to hunt and would entertain myself by any means, even baking cookies. I’m on the road to Texas posting at 78mph.

Works well. Same with cherry kool aid.

I’ve tried so many things, sour apple drink powder and buttermilk is my third choice for immediate curiosity.

My second choice, is fishing worms, distilled water, and mushrooms blended in a blender, really works on boars.

Cracked corn and corn meal best whole kernel too.

That 2nd choice sounds special.

I change the oil in our 6 gallon Cajun Fryer once a year and give it to a guy that's crazy about pig hunting. He augers a hole several feet deep, fills it with a sack of corn, then pours a couple gallons of oil on it.

That's ingenious. I'm impressed. That's actually a splendid idea.

I can see where this might be useful. Certain times of the year hogs go nuts on big, like the size of a pencil big, nightcrawlers in the river bottoms.

The hogs on my place generally don't touch just plain corn the club next door to mine has capitalized on hog hunting sadly by booking weekend hunts to anyone so they bring in truck loads of sweet potatoes, it has ruined deer hunting on all neighboring lands.
