It was still fresh, the first couple weeks on the ship.

There is nothing wrong with store bought anything you need to read the label and quit trying to buy the cheapest meat. They put it on sale right before it turns brown. Pay attention to the packing date and the origin of the product. That's just smart shopping. I thought everyone went through the grocery and threw the Thailand Shrimp back and caught the Gulf Shrimp out of the grocery freezer. You gotta read the label. Nobody wants shrimp grown in poo poo tanks. Same with meat or anything else you buy in there.

Y'all don't look at labels? I think I look at the lable on a pack of chewing gum and make sure it didn't come from China. If you don't read labels start... you'll be shocked. We don't make anything in this country.

FYI -

For those that want to rush out and get a 1/2 a sick mangey worthless cow from someone's pasture..... and have it butchered..... educate yourself on what a real grass fed beef cow tastes like on your culinary pallet.

If it isn't finished on grain (which it won't be) it tastes like chit to me.

Just a little warning before you get a bright idea and wind up taking 1/2 a cow to the Rescue Mission or somewhere and give it way.

No government employees were harmed in the making of this mess.

There are ways of getting and eating better food. It does not have to cost a fortune. It will require thinking outside the box when it comes to how we aquire our food. This is a very important issue and it would seem people in general would put more thought and effort into it. Not to mention what would happen if the grocery store just isnt an option any more, that could never happen right? Consider what would happen if a nationwide trucking strike started today and went on for a month or longer. Thats just one possibility. We should just be more self dependant in our food procurement in general for many reasons.

I eat deer meat. I also cook 5 night a week and rarely east fast food. The idea of a half cow would be great, then I think well shucks where am I gona put my deer meat, or my chicken breast and thighs. That was my point from the "we aren't all fortunate enough to live out where we can butcher a cow and store it in our 10x10 walk in freezer". Id have to buy three deep freezers to have a half cow, some deer meat and everything else. I don't have room for all that in my house. But what I do have room for is the deer I killed this year, 10lbs of beef and chicken. So I think ill just stick to that option and ill live out my life to be 80 and die from all the shucks food I ate. Im not disagreeing at all that the food we eat sucks. It really isn't healthy for us, but if I lived my life in fear of dying from eating store bought chicken @ 75 yrs old Id be dead by now from stress.

I was not talking about meat only but all the food we eat. I dont know anybody with a 10x10 freezer. If I live to be 75yo and die the next day of a massive heartattack, I will be satisfied.

Store bought is the root of your problem. How can you address this problem without acknowledge of the source?

Thanks for your recommendation, I just went and bought a cow. It's currently playing with my dogs in the backyard.

Well played
