Saw a AR pistol that sorta caught my attention today. Was a springfield with a 9.5" barrel. Thought it would be perfect to carry in truck with maybe a red dot on it. Any input? Barrel length? manufacturer or the ones to stay away from?

Look at Palmetto State Armory. I'd keep the barrel over 10 if possible unless you want to run a suppressor

Not an AR guru but the short barrells should be .300 BLK. I'd not want less than a 10.5 incher in 5.56.
Only hits count.

Short barrel 5.56 is louder than ANY normal braked rifle I’ve ever shot. Painfully loud. And anemic as well. An AR pistol is a lot of bulk and “gun” to use for a shorty 5.56. To add to the cons of massive muzzle flash and concussion, a 10” 5.56 is only making about 800fp at the muzzle and losing that energy rapidly vs. even a 14”. By contrast, with a Barnes 110 the 300blk is doing the same at 6” of barrel, and close to 1150fp at 10” and carries the energy(and expansion) out past 200 yards. The same can be said for 7.62x39 but it doesn’t use the same magazine as 5.56/300blk. For a strictly truck gun AR pistol I’d be looking at either a pistol caliber lower to build or the 300blk.

$799 isn't bad, probably not much more than the Saint. About $600 less than what I assumed it would be. Im still drawn to the AR 5.56 for the mag interchange. Id really like to have some sort of carbine that would accept XDM magazines.

Was wanting to keep it 5.56 for the interchanging mags for long gun. 4wiw....5.56 & .300blk use the same magazines in the AR-15 platform. That’s one of the biggest pros to me for the .300blk, I didn’t have to buy a bunch of specialty mags.
