Why do possums love rainy wather? I hit one this evening on the hwy during a full blown rain, and I saw 4 others. Seems like I see possums most often on nights like these when its wet, rainy, and muggy. Had one walk right out in the open during an ugly rain not long ago, it didnt have a care in the world except if it new there was deer rifle pointed in its general direction maybe it would have moved a little faster.

they are easy targets for predators too. Less of them out in a storm maybe?

Funny you say that....I saw one in my yard last night in the rain. On a side note, I recently learned that possums can eat up to 5000 ticks in a single season. I shouldn't have been surprised.....they eat everything!

That's why I like them, because they eat ticks.

I like having them around for the tickeating and I saw one eating a snake too one time so I assume they regularly kill and eat them too. Found where something dug up a yellowjacket nest in my yard and ate all of them too, must have been either a skunk or possum.
