Anyone???? I inherited a grandfather clock from my mom when she passed away in 2017. It ran fine with no issues at all, and I would wind up up every six days or so. Once we were out of town for about eight days, and the weights ran all the way down. I did like I always did, and wound each weight all the way back to the top. Then started the pendulum to get the clock going again. The pendulum will only swing for less than a minute, and won’t continue. Any ideas what’s wrong with it? I don’t have any idea what the deal is with it...

They are very complex. Find someone that specializes in them and let them fix it. We have one that my wife had when we met 35 yrs ago. There's a guy in Montgomery that fixed ours when it guit running. Needed a good cleaning

My granddad was a clock repairman. First thing he did on every clock he worked on was to clean it and spray it down with CRC lubricant. You might try that first. My mom has several of his clocks still hanging in their house. Most of them are still running and haven’t needed to be worked on in 35 years. That’s about how long it’s been since my granddad passed.

If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14

There is an oriental guy that has a shop at the Galleria in Hoover. I'll axe him next time I'm there. My grandfather made about 9 grandfather clocks a few years ago. Four were mechanical, the rest were electronic. We will need to get them turned up soon. Papa can't see well enough and lacks dexterity in his hands. I'll let you know if he can turn me on to someone in your area.

I've got an 8-day cuck-coo clock I bought in Germany that has 3 weights. My wife lifted the weights to the top and it wouldn't run after that. The clocksmith I talked to for the warranty said try adding a second weight to the chain that powers the clock/pendulum. Sometimes those chains can get twisted and slightly jammed. Adding the second weight pulled the chain free without overstressing the gears and it's worked fine since.
