Think I will settle for hotel food tonight. Will try one of these places for lunch tomorrow with customers. I’ve done a lot of driving in the last week. Im flying up here next time. I get my azz n a bind every time I travel over here. I try to squeeze a few days of hunting in before the work week. It gonna get bad during turkey season.

Blue Plate Cafe for a meat and 3 or breakfast. Two locations.

I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

Char is pretty fantastic. It's in the new spot on the corner of Bob Wallace and the Parkway (across the street from Whole Foods). I highly recommend the Wedge salad with Maytag bleu cheese.

Commerce Kitchen, Purveyor and Cotton Row are great. If you like Korean, Shinsegae is good.

Depends on what you like and want to spend, of course.

If you’re around in the afternoon and like bar food try Ale’s Kitchen at Straight to Ale.

The Nook on Tuesday (German night) but get there early

If you’re into Indian food there’s a decent buffet on Jordan lane called Sitar. It doesn’t look like much from the outside but I promise it delivers.

If you want German for lunch do Hildegards.

Ol' Heiderberg Cafe is the one off of University - 6125 University Dr.

Hildegard's is in the little patch of shops between Bob Wallace, Whitesburg and SE California -- 2357 Whitesburg Dr

Both are solid.

FWIW, back in the early 60s I rode the school bus in very rural Marshall County with the kid that was about 5 years older than me and ended up being the owner of the Blue Plate on Governors Drive. The menu has the story of why Jerry named the place The Blue Plate. Unfortunately he passed away last year but we had reconnected via email after I found out he owned the place. His son owned the South Parkway location and I suppose both locations now. Jerry Sparks is missed by family and friends.

I hate Chuckwagon.......the owner lives down the street from me. He has one of those pop-up serving stations you see at fairs and such. Pictures and his logo on it. Make me hungry every time I see it.

Rosie's has things like tacos, quesadillas, enchiladas, tamales, salsa, tomatillo salsa and roasted chile salsa, among other things.

What's not Mexican?

Do you really think it sucks or do you just like being a contrarian? I don't think it's AMAZING and it isn't super-duper shipped across the border authentic Mexican, but it's still good tasting food.

El Cazador (The Hunter) is some legit authentic Mexican food. They run all the taco trucks but have a sit down restaurant on south parkway

I like Rosies, and apparently so do a lot of other people due to the wait times to get a table.

If you don't want to call it Mexican, that's fine, but it's pretty damn good food. Virtually none of the ethnic restaurants in America could be called authentic Mexican, Chinese or whatever.

I will say I’ve only ate there once. The salsa had no cilantro in it and the food was bland. I like authentic Mexican food but not a fan of the Americanized version.

TRUTH

That stuff is legit hot too. Don’t go in there prideful thinking you’re going to eat the hottest chicken (I think it’s called the executioner). It will humble you real quick but if you do it you get a T-shirt

I've never had a flavorful "Mexican" meal in the states other than in Port Mansfield. They're all the same - cheese, tortillas, shitty refried beans, steak-chicken-ground beef - and I expect it. I figure almost all of us could create a restaurant menu almost verbatim for Mexican and Chinese (buffet or menu) and pretty much nail it because they're almost all the same thing everywhere.

I'd rather eat messican at Casablanca's than the Rosies and that Sandivallas place whatever it's called.

I like the chicken Burrito Mexicano. Has some type of sausage in it.
