To those who have hunted public in ky I am planning a trip for next archery season and am studying regulations . Am I correct in my understanding from reading that any kind of climbing stand is forbidden? Thanks

Thanks ! I have been researching and it seemed to be confusing to me reading the regs. Best I can tell as long as your not driving or screwing steps it is ok . I thought climbers would be more portable for a week trip and it’s what I’m most used to . I have heard loc ons can have the advantage at times because of the way trees are in the Midwest . May take one of each for versatility. I really appreciate the response.

What public land in KY are you referring to? I’ve hunted bow only public land up there and climbers were allowed

On the fence between a few , still doing map study and research. May do a trip to a couple different ones and a scouting trip . Right now Peabody , LBL, Penyrile are getting a hard look .

KY is not the midwest.

I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

Agree Wiley , still thought the trees might not be straight. Hope to find out more when we go up to scout . I need to get more proficient at hanging loc ons anyway.

Take orange vest and hat if u hunt west Ky. You have to wear them if u hunt inner areas.
Lbl is big and maybe not what it use to be but still has some monsters. It’s not a bonus buck for us anymore so not near as many gun hunters as in the past but a ton of nonresidents hunt it. Can’t blame them not many places u can hunt with chance at 180 plus. Good places to stay and eat there also. Great trip

Thanks Lances , we don’t plan to be there during gun season . Lbl is so big I thought if we went there Surely we would be able to get away from ppl in archery season . I’ve looked a lot at Peabody as well as far as map study and will do the same for west ky and Ballard.

At west Ky it has a inner area that is closest to the nuclear plant. You have to wear orange and bow hunt only. The areas around it has the gun season but you have to get drawn in nov and a open hunt for first 150 or so in Jan. And yes you can away from people at lbl it’s massive the crop fields get a lot of pressure though.

Gotcha , I appreciate it . I never would have dreamed that, appreciate the heads up . We’re not after monsters , I mean we’d be tickled to get one but we are seeking a place with fair chance with some hard work and pre scouting at P&Y class bucks . I hunt a small family farm and am part of a lease here in bama but I also hunt public land quite a bit. However I am very thankful for any tips or direction pointing I can get because I know things are probably a bit different.

I’ve hunted big rivers. There’s ladder stands, loc ons and ladder stands all over the place and the game dept definitely keeps watch on that place.

Plan was first week of nov , maybe we need to push it back a little to hit the sweet spot , also plan to go up in oct to scout and hunt a little to get the lay of everything. That’s a great help because I wouldn’t have thought it stretched out that deep in November. Gun season opens second sat right ? Might take our rifles too but I’ve heard the stories on rifle season .
