Wrapped the season up this morning with a pretty solid wood duck shoot. Killed a lone goldeneye, mallards, black ducks, wigeon, gadwall, and of course woodies and ringnecks all without leaving the state this year. Wasn’t that great of a year numbers wise but we killed some quality birds for Alabama. Hope everyone else has had a decent season. Now on to the real bird hunting here in a few weeks.

First time I’ve been able to go in two years. Shot three battleship mallards, could’ve shot more, but I let the woodies live. Thought I had 4 green heads, but guess the fourth one slipped out somehow right at daylight. Had another group of 9 come in and watched them for a while. We have a 2 acre pond and had over 40 mallards and woodies come in this am.The action was over in 10 minutes, didn’t have time to pick up the dead ones and count. I just wish my 13 yr old son wasn’t in bed with the flu, that’s the only reason I had planned to go. He wants to learn taxidermy, so I had to get him some supplies.

Didn't travel to AR or TN this year to hunt. The complete lack of ducks in those areas the last few times I have gone in January helped convince me to save the time and money this year and focus on other things. Hunted Wood Ducks in Barbour and Morgan Counties this year. Saw lots of Woodies in both those places but there was just so much water that they were spread out. Even so, I managed to get a few for the grill and freezer. Success to me is being able to go, killing ducks is just a bonus.

Had a pretty decent season in Central Florida. Killed a 3 man limit of 18 opening day. And killed at least 1 all 6 times we went. We killed BWT, GWT, pintails, mottled ducks, widgeon, woodies, ringers, blue bills, mergansers, coots, and snipe.
