Oil will just make it look shiny. Sometime a little darker depending on the color until it's all wiped/dried off.
Like Shaw said, you don't need to put anything on it to protect it

I believe the recommended cleaning liquid for cerakote is rubbing alcohol.

Oils or solvents will not harm it.just oil and wipe down as normal it is possible for it to rust. Cerakote cannot rust, and if applied properly and intact, neither will the metal beneath it

If you can figure out a solvent to remove cerakote, let us know. LOL Aluminum oxide!
