Love it. Every time we kill one and the heart is intact we save it. Cook it like any other good cut of venison, my favorite being cut into nuggets and breaded and fried. Second to grilled after being marinated in whatever your marinade is.
Only folks I know that don't like it don't like other organ meats like chicken gizzards or chicken livers.
It's damn good.

Deer heart is the best piece of meat on a deer......and it's not an "organ" meat. I won't eat liver or gizzards or stuff like that, but I love deer heart. Keep in mind, the heart is not an organ, it's a muscle just like the rest of the deer parts we "typically" eat.
Everyone assumes it will taste "bloody" or strong, but it doesn't.....AT ALL. Butterfly it open and trim out the connective tissue and arteries and you're left with a nice, lean piece of wonderful meat.

Ok men, granted a deer heart from a food standpoint is not the same texture wise as a gizzard or liver. And yes, it is muscle. However, it is indeed an organ. What we can do here is call it a muscular organ. Is that fair?

I just call it damn fine eatin’!
I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

We keep everyone that is not all shot up. Clean it, slice it up and it gets thrown in with whatever is in the menu that night. Absolutely love it.
It's hard to kiss the lips at night that chews your a$$ all day long.
