It's got a scratch in it that needs to be buffed out, but otherwise it's ready to go as is...

Assuming this thing floats or is at least fixable...what do I need in terms of registration, etc.? I believe I saw a sticker on it from 1991... It's still up at the farm, but mine to work on if I want it.

A bill of sale with the serial number should be all you need.

Only has to be, and can only be registered with a motor. They want the s/n off the outboard also.

The harder I practice, the luckier I get.

Is the weed eater approved by LPOA?

If you're only planning to use the boat on LPOA lakes, then you don't have to register it with the state.

The LPOA app request the registration number, but they can issue LPOA decals without it

I had one about identical to that. With a 9.9 maxed out don't turn too quick is all I can say.

No need to register it if you don't put a motor on it. I believe even a trolling motor counts as a motor to the state water patrol though. if you don't already have it, you'll need the vessel endorsement on your drivers license with a motor too.

You have to register a yak, if it has a trolling motor. So yes it would. Gundoc, evidently you have no experience with a 36 volt trolling motor on a small boat ! grin

Perch I know it has to be registered to be used on PUBLIC waters.

The LPOA is a private land owners group that owns and maintains the lakes I was referring to.

They are basically glorified farm ponds.

But you are correct. The state law says any boat that is propelled by a mechanical device has to be registered.
