The rut has been over in my neck of the woods for about a month. I’m thinking about going back out the last few weekends and hunting, Usually on post rut I’ll hunt travel corridors closest to food. What’s some other stuff that’s worked for y’all?

Where I’m at, they can still be rutting in March. Here’s what I do.

Get close before daylight. Tree Yelp a little. Get him to gobble. Let him hit the ground. Reel him in with some aggressive cutting, then take his head off at 30 yards.

Seriously, I’ve never hunted post rut deer, so I don’t know Jack about it.

I still keep up with my doe groups. Even though our rut has been over since right after Christmas. I will still see bucks push does around all through February. But of course the does are looking for food too.

Will you wait until season opens this year before you kill one or will you kill another one before season starts like you did a couple years ago?

I had much rather be tried by twelve than carried to my grave by six!!!!
