I have few Questions for those of you that have been shooting for a while. I am self taught and pretty much only know what I have read or heard.
So how did you improve your shooting? I would like to improve this off season and have planned on shooting more but I feel like if I keep doing the same thing over and over will I get better or just be luckier some days?
Would or have you ever got coaching from a pro?

Thanks

1. Get your equipment set up to fit you, draw length, draw weight, arrow spine etc...
2. Make sure bow is tuned paper tune is only a start I prefer to bareshaft tune to 20 yds. Not sure about shops in your area as I do my own bow work but I'm sure there is a decent one close by I know of one that wouldn't be to far of a drive for you
3.a coach can be expensive and can help but there teaching you there methods that work for them most of the time
4.shoot with other people that are better than you
Alabama is a hot bed for tournament archery especially 3d and there are some in your area tournament season starts in February and goes till August it's a great fun way to spend a Saturday or Sunday look up bowhunters of Alabama on Facebook or the internet the your gonna meet some folks some local to you that will be more than willing to help you.
If you was closer I'd be more than happy to meet up and shoot anytime and help you out
If you any questions feel free to drop me message or post it up if I can help you I will there is a few others Shaw and a couple more that are knowledgeable about archery
And yes I have been coached and to be honest it helped a very small amount the big improvement was taking what he said as a suggestion and tweaking it to fit me and my style of shooting
And remember you can shoot a 100 arrows a day but if your doing wrong or with equipment that ain't set up you won't see any or much improvement your better off to 10 arrows correctly than 100 incorrectly

Good advice above. Get with some other shooters. I was in the same boat. Got my first bow and taught myself. I really improved once I got into tournament shooting. As mentioned, what works for other people might not be the best for you. You may have to tweak it to work for you. Also, don’t over think it and put too much pressure on yourself. That’s a sure fire way to end up with target panic.

Regardless of what you do learn this
Archery is a process that ends in a result
Learn to repeat the process EXACTLY the same each and every shot and the result will become the same

Shaw you just had to bring that up didn't you....lol

Also I will add archery is way more of a mental game than a physical one
The best shooters are so strong mentally that it ain't even funny and they can flip it on and off like a switch
I have shot with Dan mcarthy, Levi Morgan among others and it amazing just how good them dudes are mentally

I Know I have to make a change to make a change. I looked at the BHA schedule and gonna try and make some of those shoots.
I need to make sure my DL is correct, I think it is really close. I did swap to a thumb trigger release about a year ago and saw improvements in my grouping pretty fast.
Do any of you use a practice trainer things? (Don’t know what it’s called)Simulates drawing and anchoring and firing the release.

Thanks foe the advise

All u need for that is a piece of cord to practice with
Make sure realgardless of what type release you use either a wrist strap, thumb trigger or a hinge you take the time to learn to fire it using back tension and dont smash the trigger it ain't like shooting a gun.
Learn to accept that it's ok for the pin to move around and float on the target and set there and use back tension to fire the bow
Learn to focus on the spot you wanna hit and look through the pin to that spot
