Anybody have experience with these broadheads. I'm setting up my 67# bow to
shoot some heavy aluminum arrows (30.5" 2219's) and heads for some hog hunting. I currently
have some 165gr. Zwickey No Mercy's, but these things are nearly impossible
to get wicked sharp.
How difficult are the Simmons to get hair shaving sharp? and how do they perform
on game/big hogs specifically?

the best and easy to sharpen a SIMMONS head is the RADA CUTLERY R119,this thing will sharpen a SIMMONS head, I have shot SIMMONS head every since JRRRY SIMMONS and CLARENCE YATES started making them, they are heavy, but they are KILLERS!!!, you can get the RADA sharpener on line from Walmart, get you one. about $14.00

I actually have the RADA sharpener. Its what I've been using to sharpen the Zwickeys.
Zwickeys must have some really hard steel cause its taking forever to get them hair
popping sharp, but I finally have.
Think I'm gonna keep the Zwickeys now and prolly try 3 of the Swampsharks just to see.
how they do on a big Boar.

Im not real good at it..but simmons heads are pretty hard steel and they have a double beveled edge which makes them a little harder to sharpen. Best shrarpening methods ive seen is a steelmaster broadhead guide and a jewel stick..i think ive got that right. There is some youtube vids on sharpening them this way. Ive sharpened mine sufficiently enough to kill deer with a chainsaw file..tho ive only ever shot one deer with them.. they are hard to hone with anything that aint diamond coated. They are absolute critter destroyers tho..excellent heads.

I’ve got one of those RADA sharpeners around the house somewhere. I bought it years ago. It still doesn’t give the edge I want. I simply work mine on a stone to the best of my ability.

They sell a sharpener that will do the trick, the steel master
https://www.simmonssharks.com/sharpeners/steel-master-broadhead-and-knife-sharpener

Simmons broadheads are deadlier than a 6.5 creedmoor, seriously though, I’ve killed a lot of deer with them.
I’ve used the land sharks, tree sharks, interceptors and swamp sharks off of compound bow and recurve.

Gonna have to order me some for sure. Finally got my Zwickeys where they will shave.
Got em close with the rada and then smoothed em out with a lansky pull through fine stone.

This video gives you all you need to know! I sharpen the Treesharks and the interceptors like this and they get scary sharp!! I also have a 3"x12" piece of leather glued on a 3" diameter piece of PVC and use micro fine honing compound I finish (strop) the edge with it at the same angle as the fine side of the fine jewel rod. It truly becomes razor blade sharp.

I shoot the 190gr Treesharks out of my recurve. This is the sharpening method that I use to get them really sharp. Check out Chris Spikes' video below and watch some of his other videos while you are at it...he is the real deal!
