Great job you guys. You young whipper snappers are making us old farts look bad. But keep them coming.

About 6 weeks ago, the pulpwooders called and said they were coming to thin every 4th roll in a week or two and would be in for about 3 or 4 weeks. Came as scheduled but cut off and on for 3 weeks and didn't get 1/4 of the property thinned. Said they were finished and would not be back till March. Had another job they needed to see about.
Yesterday afternoon, they called and said they would be there today. Not sure how long they intend to stay. Not looking forward to this interruption again.

Nice one!

Haven’t checked in a while but as luck would have it I have new employee orientation in Bham tomorrow and Friday, and the company agreed to fly me out Sunday afternoon instead of Friday. It just so happens that my family farm is only about 45 minutes from Bham so I should be able to squeeze in a few hunts this weekend.

I'm still on a dry spell since I shot that buck and didn't recover it. Gonna keep after them though. Once gun season comes in I'll get some points on the board for sure.

Hunted Friday and Saturday afternoon, only saw a fawn on day one. Sat on the ground Saturday afternoon cause there weren’t any good trees to climb where i needed to be cause of the wind. Had a doe come to 35 yards and picked me out trying to draw. May get a hunt or 2 in thanksgiving weekend

Set up ground blind yesterday and plan to hunt Sunday afternoon after church and lunch. Off work till Monday week December 2 so plan to try and hunt daily to add to our Team totals.

On another note, my high school, Central of Phenix City, is in the AHSAA Football State championship against Thompson after beating Auburn High last night 38-0. Game is scheduled December 4 in Auburn Coliseum

Went Sunday after church nursing a bad back and a very painful hamstring. Sat in Ground blind for about 3.5 hours to no avail. Weather was beautiful, wind minor and blowing in the correct direction but saw nothing. Actually saw 1 squirrel the entire sit and no birds which is very unusual. Hurt so bad and tossed and turned last night that I decided to take off today and let back and hamstring rest. Will try again tomorrow.
We have had the tree cutters in for around 3 weeks which in years past hasn't caused too many issues. But about an hour before sunset, I could hear a couple voices north of me on a county road that cuts through our property along with an ATV or two
Not sure if the deer are spooked or have gone elsewhere .

I went on a WMA gun hunt Saturday and saw what I'm pretty sure was a really nice buck moving through a cutover at about 350yds. Never could get a shot on him, all I could see was the top of his rack every now and then and little glimpses of body.

Went yesterday morning nursing a bad back, hunting side of a hill where the tree trimmers had thinned overlooking a hardwood bottom. Bad back situation worked out better than the hunting. Saw nothing but sat about 90% in comfort in my API Grand Slam Magnum. Had to stand a few minutes every hour to stretch out the back.

In today helping to get ready for Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving guys! I went last weekend and saw deer every sit, but they were either buttonheads or does with little ones. I’ve gotta work this weekend but I should be back out there the next weekend.

Went Saturday morning hunting a new spot I picked out Friday. About 20 minutes after sunrise, a nice big 8 point or better came ut of a thicket to my left into some more thick stuff. Stayed around in it for about 10 minutes then walked back to the other thicket not giving me a clean shot. i could have taken a low percentage shot but hopefully in the near future I can catch him in that area again. This time with a little better shot opportunity.

Had a good little run early. Got to hunt a lot more than I expected. But I officially closed on my house in Auburn today and live in Orlando now. I only have 1 more trip planned to hunt deer in Alabama this season on MLK weekend. I may get a couple hunts in Florida, but the property I have access to I won’t shoot a doe this year and prob won’t see any bucks big enough to shoot. Good luck the rest of the season fellas and maybe I’ll get lucky on my last trip.

I'm still trying to break the ice. This has been by far my worst season in a long time. But I'll be off for almost two weeks for Christmas so I'm pretty sure SOMETHING is gonna die.

Guys I'm sorry my season has been such a flop so far and I haven't put any points on the board. It ain't been from lack of hunting though I can tell you that. Still holding out hope that I'll find one worth shooting on our place, if not I've got a Stimpson SOA rut hunt coming up at the end of the month.

Headed up to the farm this weekend. First trip to bama since Thanksgiving. Hoping to get one more doe. I’ll be lucky to even see a buck lol. Will be nice to get outta the pine scrub of central Florida into some pretty timber.
