I like chained super stakes on my footholds.

I started off using the 18" Berkshire cable anchors but after I has one pulled up I went with the 30" cables. If you are in sandy soil use the longer anchors.

I've always just used double stake swivels with 12" rebar (with a nut welded on top) cross staked. We have pretty hard dirt though.

I've got bard, rocky soil. Is it okay if I leave some of the 15" rebar exposed?(I have rebar now)

You're going to want to have all of your stuff covered in the trap bed. I dig a smaller hole down about 3" under the trap bed and drive my stakes down in there. I have gotten away with only staking with one piece of rebar in really hard ground but it's not ideal and you increase the chances of losing a trap and a catch.

Dig a countersink hole under the trap bed?

Ditto on the chained super stakes. Starting to use more drags now too. It is a whole lot easier for an old fat, lazy person to get those up.

Yes on digging the hole under the trap and then bedding back on top of the stake.

I agree on the chained super stakes. They come pre-made in 15" or 18" chain lengths. If your in rocky soil 15" is all you need and you probably won't need to drive it all the way, might even want shorter length of chain. Invest in a stake puller if you want to get em out of the ground !! Drags work great too and make it super easy to pull or move traps.I'm running a dozen K9-Extremes on 10 ft of #2 chain with a FB Drag that I'm really liking too. Good Luck & Tight Chains.

I use Freedom Wolf Fang. Hold fine.

Rebar works if you use 2 crossed but always seem loose in my soil conditions.

If you have an auger in a cordless drill you can drill down beside the anchor and make pulling easier. My puller is a 5' piece of 1" cold rolled with a chain and hook welded on. In some soils it won't budge the anchor but will stress the discs in your back.

"Cull" is just another four letter word...
