Sitting for extended periods of time let’s blood pool and can cause clotting. If you do have to drive or sit you need to get up frequently and walk around to keep the blood moving. A clot is my biggest fear in all of this. That's what I'm needing to know. Is more activity better or does more activity increase the risk?

I had my knee replacement in June. AU wrestler is correct physical therapy is the key. My knee was in bad shape when I finally had it replaced. I’m retired but depending on how physical your job is 12 weeks minimum before going back to work. I personally turned the corner at 3 months. It’s takes time for the soft tissue to heal. I’m at 5 months and have full range of motion. I’m still a little tender but a thousand times better than before.

I was on a walker a week to 10 days then switched to a cane. Another tip take your pain meds that’s what there for. Take your pain meds an hour before therapy. The first two weeks are the worst. It starts getting better after that. Do your therapy and the exercises they give you.

A good friend of mine needs knee replacement on one knee and ACL on the other one. He fell going up some steps on Sunday and hurt them again, now he wants to wait 4 or 5 months before having surgery. Isn't it best to get them fixed ASAP? It depends on how old you are. I’ve had a knee and a hip replacement in 2019. Joint replacement only last about 20 to 25 years. My doctor told me to wait till I couldn’t stand the pain anymore. I’ll be 63 in a month.

A clot is my biggest fear in all of this. That's what I'm needing to know. Is more activity better or does more activity increase the risk? Not from a knee replacement, but after doing a scope on my right knee 3 years ago for a torn meniscus I got a clot. That sumbeach hurt like hell! I just had my left knee scoped a month ago and was paranoid that it would happen again, but doc put me on blood thinners right away as a preventative seeing as though it happened to me before.
