Acre, The Hound, Amsterdam Cafe. If you got some time there's some nice spots around Lake Martin.

Yes, very good. One of the best meat and threes you'll ever have. Very convenient too. A block or two off of the interstate. Also, I haven't seen anyone list Bow and Arrow yet. Owned by the guy that owns Acre (very good too), but is a BBQ place.

No one mentioned Hamilton's either. I assume it is still around.

Now if you are looking for a chain, go to Tiger Town and pick from a hundred or so.

Let us know what you picked and how it was.

Amsterdam cafe is one of my favorites, try the crab cake sandwich.

Fratelli's is pretty good Italian fare.

Stinkys Fish Camp is very good.

Acre, Hound, The Depot, Amsterdam - all solid

I wouldn't eat at Hamilton's unless I was dying and didn't have tree bark and dirt to eat.

Fusion Thai-Viet on Magnolia is good if you like pho, pad Thai, etc. The Spicy Basil with beef is good, too.

Chit I loved Mama G's, Big Blue Bagel, a small joint off of wiregrass road, and a steakhouse somewhere out there. Been too long.

Pretty sure my hometown is going to be playing in AU soon. Lanett is in the title game. Ernie, you know anything about it?

Not sure why the disdain for Hamilton’s? I actually prefer Hamilton’s on Magnolia over Acre, and they are both really good.

Lived here my entire life, and my choices would be:
Nice place:
1). Acre 2) Hound 3) Depot
Mid-tier:
1) Bow and Arrow (great meats, sides just so so). 2) Amsterdam 3) Niffers

Just good casual food:
1) Pannie George’s 2) Taco Mama 3) Sushiya if you like sushi
There are a host of others to choose from. Stinks is no longer open. A place called Mikes Steakhouse is opening there. If you need anything while here shoot me a dm.

I've eaten at both places you cite multiple times.

Hamilton's has bland meals with little character, I've had mediocre to horrible service in there more than once, and it's nowhere on the level of Acre, Hound, The Depot or even Amsterdam in overall quality, variety or taste.

Hamilton's is a barely more than a gussied-up Railing or Hungry Hunter from the 1980s, which is one reason I think 50-year-olds love going there. It reminds them of the 1980s when we didn't have squat for high quality food and service in Auburn.

Just Mike's or is it Big Mike's? Big Mike's are very, very good steaks.

Bow and Arrow sucks IMO. Nobody every mentions The Depot. Maybe cause it’s expensive. Byron’s for breakfast

Agree on Hamilton's. Only eaten there a couple of times and it's not good. Got the shrimp and grits one of those times and it was just bad food. Won't be going back unless someone else wants to pay.

On a side note, I heard that Bow and Arrow was recently sold. Anyone else heard about this?
