Thanks Brandon

Those Spanish Mausers aren't the strongest of actions 99.5% were 7mm redone. I'd shy away cause nobody's keen on a bolt through the forehead. Some are in good shape and fine but as cheap as rifles are now I'd pass. Sorry to ruin your trade Brandon but just relating my experience.

Thanks dave260rem for the info! You didn’t ruin the trade. I’ve never dealt with a that kind of gun before so I didn’t want to get burned.

I'm not very knowledgeable about these rifles but the little I know mirrors what 260 said. It could be a good rifle or it could require a lot of work (money) to make it a usable rifle. No way to know without someone who knows inspecting the gun.

I rarely pass on any old military gun but the Spanish Mauser in .308 is not one I own. Would really like to find on in 7mm though. As the others have already stated, there are lots of variables with the old guns and when they have been rechambered it can result in unexpected outcomes.

Yep, the .308 max pressure is around 11K PSI more than that action was originally designed to handle.

the spanish made actions are small ring, iirc, and can have issues with bolt lug setback. the so-called .308 conversions were built around the CETME round, which is lower pressure than the .308 win/NATO spec 7.62x51, but same size case ...

.308 WIN and 7.62 NATO, although sharing the same external dimensions, DO NOT spec out at the same pressures. The .308 WIN has a higher max pressure limit than the 7.62 NATO.

Thanks guys. I passed on that trade but have another gentleman offering me a PSA build AR10 .308 any of you know much about them? I looked it up and found a few prices on one but not sure about it.

Is it a True PSA gun or one of their old P-TAC guns?

The PSA guns are pretty decent. The P-TAC aren't bad for what they are but they had issues with specs and what fit one gun wouldn't fit another.

Gun doc can I text you a pic of it? He says it’s a true PSA gun but I’m not to sure since I’ve never owed one.

Sure my cell is 205-601-8830.

You can tell by looking at the left side of the receiver.

It will either say "Palmetto State Armory" with their crossed cannon logo and be a model PA-10, or it will say "P-TAC" with the model "Tac 10" under it
