We used to steam ours at a restaurant I worked at. Peel the leaves off, add a teaspoon of cream cheese and top with a shrimp.

I need more info on Artichoke cooking. I've never done that. I've seen them in jars but I don't know if I've ever seen a fresh one.
If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14

I am an old fart, however I ate my first one when I was twelve years old. I was spending the nite with my friend and his wonderful mother cooked them and taught me how to eat them. Needless to say, I did not start eating them till I was an adult. Thank you Mrs L.
I like Jiffy cornbread.

One of our favorites. We boil them for an hour with a couple bay leaves and garlic. Serve whole in a bowl with a small dipping cup of lemon butter. Eat the “meat” from each leaf til you get to the choke, cut it out, then eat the heart to finish.

When I cook them for Rutabaga, I trim the bottom, boil them with lemon, drain and serve with homemade Hollindaise sauce. Hollindaise is made with egg yolks, butter and lemon juce. We have ne er tried grilling them, since we love them the way I cook them, but that sounds tasty!!
Be kind to one another and tell the ones you love that you love them often. We never know what tomorrow will bring.
