My nephew is on Dora middle school archery team. He brought his bow over to our house tonight, to show me and tell me he made the team. Im glad he made the team, but feel bad because his little bow someone gave him is in terrible shape and he doesn’t need to be shooting it at all. And his parents don’t know anything about bows or hunting of any kind. I’m not sure if there’s a certain bow they have to have, but I thought I’d check with y’all to see if any of y’all had one laying around, one of yalls kids have outgrown or just one sitting around collecting dust and possibly live close to Birmingham or Dora..

Yes, Certain equipment has to be used. Rather messed up in everyone uses the same bow and same arrows, the original Genesis bow and Easton 1820 arrows cut to 30" for the NASP.-National Archery in the Schools Program Archery is a specific sport with draw weights and draw lengths, and arrows tuned to each. However, with everyone using the same bow with universal draw length, zero let-off, and adjustable draw weight from 10 to 20 pounds, the ability for some to have a proper tuned arrow flight is impossible. I understand the reasoning, in trying to achieve a fair, competitive, program for ALL kids, but it just is not possible using the same bow and arrows for different individuals. Regardless, it's a good program and can be a lot of fun. Hope he does well!! Here's a link to NASP https://www.naspschools.org/gear/equipment-informationGod Bless, David B.

I know nothing about how the program works... but I do know how to shoot bows and how to help the little fellow get better at target practice.
