Very quiet this morning. No squirrels moving around. No birds making noises and no deer. Had deee all over me yesterday. Just not a good morning.

The end is nigh.

Well, I got to hunt 1.5 days. Got up to our property Mon.PM, and hunted Tues., talked to my wife
and she and my son both have the Flu, hunted Wed. morning and drove back that afternoon.
They're still layed up in the bed as of 11;20 Fri. morning.
Used a whole weeks annual leave for that.

Hope yall had better luck than me.

I saw 7 deer this morning and was able to kill another good doe. I'll get it posted in the kill thread above later when I get home. Sadie had to find this one for me.

The deer I shot this morning ran 125 yards after shot. I don't like to waste meat so I don't shoulder shoot them. I shoot behind the shoulder, middle of the body. I hit this doe a little high because she was close and she lit out running. Not a drop of blood until Sadie found her. I hit her a couple of inches or three under the loins. Her body cavity filled up with all the blood.

Sadie was sitting beside me when I shot her and then she tracked and found her. We had a good morning.

Just got home from the processor.

About to head out to a stand here on my place for the afternoon hunt.

Got my two meat does in route to my freezer so I'm buck hunting from now until season ends unless someone comes to me needing a deer for their freezer.

Starting to rain just a little here so it may make for a real good afternoon.

We shall see shortly.

I have been blessed with a great week of ML hunting so far.

I have enjoyed every minute I have been able to be in the woods. Thank you, Lord!

Monday through this morning's hunt I have seen a total of 34 deer.

No club legal bucks at all but I did see several young bucks.

A heavy, dense fog is rolling in which is really limiting the visibility. Got a big doe and little one in field right now.

Congrats on the kills Billy! I’m curious, how does Sadie do sitting next to you when you pull the trigger? Does she flinch? And I’m guessing she’s probably smart enough to realize there’s about to be a loud boom too, right? It’s cool that you take her like that. I’d imagine KAT would climb the walls of the shooting house looking for the exit if I shot a ML with him beside me!

I have been shooting guns around Sadie since she was 8 weeks old. Pistols, shotguns, rifles and muzzleloader. She is not bothered at all by the shots. I don't want to ruin her hearing so I bought hearing protection for her to wear in a shooting house. There is only one company worldwide that makes ear muffs for canines. Mutt Muffs. They make ear muffs for military and aviation canines. I bought a pair from them for Sadie.

I put them on her right before I get ready to pull the trigger on a deer. Now, when she sees me pick up the Mutt Muffs she knows what is about to happen. She doesn't flinch when I shoot. She is just ready to get down and "go find the deer".

If I'm hunting from a shooting house Sadie is ALWAYS with me. Of course, I can't take her when I'm hunting from a ladder stand or if I'm climbing. Now that my girls are grown and gone, Sadie is my hunting buddy.

Cuz does sadie let you know when a deer comes in the field. She sure looks like shes watching for one.

I watch Sadie about as much as I watch the fields and woods. She either senses, sees, smells or hears deer a lot of times before I ever see them. I watch where she is looking and often times out pops a deer.

I love having her with me when I hunt.

I muzzleloader hunted Monday through Friday, both morning and evening hunts, every day. Sadie was with me on every hunt!

We saw a total of 36 deer, 2 bobcats and a fox squirrel this week.

I was able to kill two good does for the freezer.

God blessed me and Sadie with a good week of hunting.

It's amazing that can keep her calm enough to not give you away. Very cool!

I talk to her like she is my child.

I tell her to be still and to be quiet.

She listens to me better than my kids did.

Buddy of mine had a little cur mix that hunted with him for 12 years, she would climb and sit in a 2 man ladder but couldn’t go back down so he lowered her by a harness and rope each time. She was a deer tracking machine but only if he shot it. She had no interest at all in one she didn’t help shoot

Billy, that’s about as cool as it gets! Totally awesome in my opinion! Count your blessings bro!

FYI - KAT would not do well in that situation. The first squirrel that came by... that would be the end of any stealth hunt we might have had.

Sadie is a COOL girl, no doubt. Billy, you're blessed to have such a fine hunting partner.
