Some of y'all have no concept of what hard work is.

Anyone that claims they work hard I would probably tell them the same.

On the rare occasion when I am not riding a desk making sure this entire business runs. I see all the rest of y'all out there "working hard". Running errands. Taking 3 hour lunches. Getting off early and generally screwing around on a Thursday.

You'll be on here on a Tuesday in mid-December posting pictures from your Treestand saying you don't have to go back to work until after Christmas.

Look at the traffic on a typical day out your window and ask yourself what are all these people doing not at work somewhere.

America in 2019 is about as unproductive as I would have ever imagined. Those that work hard really work their arse off are a VERY small percentage of the overall and are doing it for less pay and benefits than ever before in the history of this country in the modern era. That's my opinion and the way Corporate America has continued to screw workers while improving their bottom line. Workers are getting robbed blind. No raises, higher cost of living, no guaranteed benefits, no guaranteed retirement, fees for all the 401(k). Some of the major industries in this Country are government subsidized, medical, housing, etc..

All of Wall Street is subsidized by the Government and you and I breaking our backs dumping money in a retirement account. They take our money and make a living off it but in the end produce very little that is tangible.

We are already Socialists. Government subsides go to most of the major industries that make up our GDP.

You don't have to be a workaholic either but there are a LOT of people that have no room to complain about a teacher having too much time off just the same as a teacher claiming they are getting the short end of the stick while getting a lot of guarantees.

I think a teacher's pay equates to the required effort... I'm ok with that.

No government employees were harmed in the making of this mess.

Kinda the same thing, you work in an unlicensed day care and she teaches in a public school.

You sir are correct. Mine are 35-60 yr old 2nd graders.

NEWSFLASH: working with people is hard. Doesn't matter whether they're kids, teenagers, adults, patients, clients, Soldiers, factory workers, construction workers, etc. And now that we all have cell phones on us 24/7 there's a pressure to always be available. Teachers aren't the only ones who have to deal with that. Cry me a friggin river...

i listened to a retirement seminar and most of the people who had grown their retirement to over 1 million dollars were secondary ed teachers. maybe not in this state, but teachers nonetheless.

What lunch? My wife has 20 minutes at 10:45 every morning to get 25 2nd graders fed. She doesn't have time to eat herself and that is the most stressful time of the day for them. You would really benefit from going and spending a week in a classroom. If you have any sanity left you would sing a different tune.

Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

However, it isn't as much time off as people think. Fist, she has to be at school by 7. They have morning duties and afternoon duties as well as meetings at least twice a week after school hours. She is very rarely home before 6. She often spends Sunday afternoon at work. The amount of paperwork she has to complete is stupid. She has no break during the day, so she has to do it after school hours. She often brings work home. Teachers have to be back at school at least a week before the students at the beginning of the year and at least where she has taught, their classrooms have to be ready by that first official day back. So, she usually starts back about 2 1/2 weeks before students arrive. She also usually has to spend about a week in professional development classes every summer.

We do pay a lot out of pocket for stuff for her classroom. She often complains about her job, the kids, etc. But, never about the pay.

The benefits are great, the retirement is still pretty damn good, but not as good as it used to be. But, no way I could deal with the parents or the kids.

^^ doekiller hit the nail on the head. My wife is a first grade teacher and has her masters. She’s a damn good teacher and she works hard at it. She vents to me from time to time about something stupid administration has done, the kids, etc. but she’s never complained about the pay. She was called to be a teacher and knew what she was getting into when she signed up for it. Sure there are people who become teachers and just coast through doing the bare minimum, and yeah they seem to have it made. But you have sorry people in every profession.

NEWS FLASH... Dear Lord your a realtor.

Perhaps the educational system failed you but this ranks in the top 5 of the most idiotic Aldeer threads. Think real hard about that. Teachers are the most underpaid, under appreciated vitally important professionals in USA. They dont bitch enough. I watched my mom work 80-100 hours a week for 30 plus years teaching.. She spent her last year leaving early to drive children to her school so that they could get a better education. She is 75 and last night she met a former student who remembered her due to the huge amount of love she showed her in her classroom.

I have taught for 24 years, 5th grade. I make 72,500 which I dont think is to bad. Plus I do odd jobs in summer to keep myself busy. Times have changed guys. I have 29 students in my room 22 Hispanic 15 speak NO English. 10 years ago we had no Hispanic kids. They came to my town for the jobs. Town of about 30,000 and several huge factories that cant find workers and pay up to and over 20 bucks per hour. Last year I spent 15 days or 97.5 hours giving test from the state in my room. All were required. I have 4 that come in and I have to let them sleep for a couple hours or they fall asleep setting up. I dont know what the answer is.

All I'm saying is if it's so hard, then go find another job. Every job has things that stink about it. My job is the same. Lots of good stuff but there's plenty of things I don't like about it. But I chose it and I knew those things going into it so I don't post on facebook complaining about taking phone calls at 9pm, no health insurance, no retirement, no guaranteed paycheck. I chose the job so I don't get on facebook and complain about it. Can't say the same for a bunch of teachers I know

And for the record, 90% of Realtors fail and are out of the business within 18 months of getting their license. Can't say the same for teaching....

Doesn’t mean being a realtor is hard. It’s just an appealing job for quitters.

Nobody should complain about their job. If you hate it so much, leave! There's plenty of folks hiring and the economy is booming. No reason to get your panties in a bunch
