The 270 thread got me checking. Hogdon 4350 or imr 4350? H has always burned slower for me. For you newbies you'll see Varget for .308 WW760 for .280(yes Winchester for a Remington cartridge) RL 22 for 7mag 4064 for .35whelen for AUs .338 I'm going with 7828. Now this is just the ramblings of a .260 shooter whose handloaded for 38 years so i'm barely broken in. Yes 4350 works in the .260.
Only hits count.

I want to use H4350 but it's always alot slower than IMR4350 for me.

IMR 4350 for me in 30-06. What do y'all like for a short barrel (16") 308 shooting 150s or 165s? Any advise on 6.8 spc2 with 100-110 grainers?

I use H4350 in my 338 win mags. Tried other powders but nothing has given me the velocity and accuracy like H4350 with all bullet weights. 7828 would be way too slow for a 338 win mag IMHO. I've tried H4831SC, but couldn't cram enough into the case to get the velocity I wanted with 250 grainers, even with VERY compressed loads.
It's all the 6.5 Ghey shooters who have been hogging all of the H4350 for the past few years and creating shortages of that powder. Read the surveys done with shooters on the PRS competition circuit and it's far and away the most popular powder. That's why I have a stockpile of 8 lb canisters so I will have it when I need it.
I use IMR4350 also, in a 257 Roberts and one of my 300 win mags.
I've used a lot of R22, but have been frustrated with lot to lot inconsistency and temperature sensitivity. Almost locked up my 300 Weatherby a few years ago when I loaded a box of 168 gr TTSX with my usual load of 86 gr R22. Took a LOT of effort to open that bolt, and I looked at the chronograph and it read @ 3450 FPS!! That's about 150 FPS difference from the previous lot and had to back off to 83 gr to get velocity back down to 3300 FPS.
Varget is a good powder, but not as versatile as 4350 IMO. Not a good powder in magnums, not slow enough for top velocities in 06 based cartridges unless it's a 338-06 or 35 Whelen with low compression ratios.
Enough rambling for tonight...

Not sure how it would work in your short barreled 308 but the guy that helped me get started and showed me quite a bit loaded IMR 4064 with a 150 Accubond and he said that produced the best results across the board. I might try something a little easier to come by than the IMR 4064 if it was me unless you had a stock pile of it. I'm needing some for my 7mm-08 and not having any luck finding it locally.

I experimented with H4350 and IMR4350 in My 270 WSM. Loaded exactly the same in matching brass with the only difference being the powder. I didn't chrono it but POI at 200 yards was dang near the same. Close enough that I don't care which I use. IMR has been easier for me to get though.

Do yourself a favor and buy some Big Game powder for that 7-08.

TAC works great with 150 gr bullets in a 308.
