What's the furthest you ever saw a Gobbler fly out of his roost tree to the ground? Mine would be 732 yds (just looked it up on google earth) or so. From up in a hill across a 20 acre field and landed on the far side while I watched from about 40 yds from his roost tree.

I’m not positive on distance, but I’ve seen a bird fly off the side of a mountain in Jackson County and go a long arse way before crossing the paint rock river and landing 200 yards out in the middle of a 40 acre pasture. I would guess 600-800 yards or so, but I don’t know for sure.

I saw one fly diagonally across a 40 acre pasture for sure. So what’s that 600 yards or so?

Have some property with a lot of clear cut on it with a decent amount of hills. Their favorite move is to fly down within 100 yards of roost until I know where they roost. At that time, they will fly to the the next timbered woods once I walk 40 miles to get to the area they gobbling at. As others have said , I would guess 600-800 yards. Usually the opposite direction of the truck. And I will not say a peep the entire morning. They just KNOW....

Not in Alabama and can’t attest he landed period, let alone on the ground, but every dang bit of one-half mile across a canyon and then some in Utah.

I called one across the Tombigbee many years ago and did manage to kill him.

seen it a many of times and quite a few times after I climbed the mountain to try to get setup on the gobbler... usually followed with several bad words as I walk back down the mountain.

Way over yonder a good ways is usually what happens. Had a couple of HunterTurf birds come sailing by that never did land..... I think they flew all the way to Troy's front yard.

I was deer hunting last year and seen one go from tree tree over 200 yards to roost.. I think it found the perfect tree till it spotted my 6yr old boy about 30yards away

I saw 5 turkeys fly across the mouth of Clear Creek where it meets the main lake on Lewis Smith Lake yesterday. One side straight across to the other. I'm 1000% serious.
