Anyone ever dust off their old PSE Fireflights, Bear whitetail II's, Darton's, or other old bows to hunt with? I've hunted most of this season with my old Carbon Extreme XLR. The first few years that I shot this bow I shot it using fingers and a flipper rest. Now I use a release and a whisker biscuit. Next season I'll set it up for fingers, flipper rest, and no sights. Just for kicks.

I wanted one of those carbons sooo bad when they came out. I was a poor little high schooler. First bow I bought was a Golden Eagle. Should’ve held on to that one.

Don't blame me for your bad decision-

I finally graduated from them thangs..i started my bowhunting career with a 45lb jennings micro carbon extreme. It was my brothers hand me down bow and i was so excited to get it. I worked so hard to be able to pull it back and i could pull it back and shoot it bout 7-10 times real good when i was about 7 years old..daddy carried me when i was 8 years old to larry odells and bought me a new 3 pen sight and a generic double prong rest. I got 3 brand new beman jr and 3 brand spankin new 100grn vortex broadheads..this was like 2002. I was probly the happiest kid on the face of the planet. Daddy had let me start climbin trees in the yard but all i had was an old als fab stand to practice with as all the ol mans were on trees. Thats what we hunted with was ol man stands. He made me a little green patch behind the house an that was the only place i could go and hunt by myself without daddy goin with me..it was a little well house i set in lookin down a powerline row..first deer i ever saw alone was a doe an a fawn at like 10 yards..i shot ever arrow i had then threw a paint can attem..at 8 years old thats about all the skill i had..i run to the house an got mama to come help me find my arras so i wouldnt get in trouble...but daddy was tickled to death i shot atem..he said."you cant killem if you dont shoot". Daddy shot a recurve, 45lb ben pearson equalizer for alot of years an kilt several with it then he shot a bear polar 2 with no sights all the way to bout 1998..when he upgraded to a high country with about a 4in overdraw with a bodoodle rest and some beman ventures bout 3ft long rofl my brother bought the nicest bow i had ever seen up close...a PSE TEAM PRIMOS..i remember thinkin it was the best bow in the world an it could probly kill deer sittin still. I got a hoyt v-tec when i was 14 for my birthday an i been movin on up ever since. Come a long way since then..too far if you ask me...the late 90's to about 04 bows woulda been a good place to stop

Started with a whitetail legend. Good gawd that thing had to have weighed 20#'s! But it was quiet and a killer. Bought a pse beast that weighed half as much, but didn't shoot near as quiet or sweet as that old legend. Then got a q2 from a member here about 10 years ago and i love it. Still have that beast and my son shoots it. I gave the legend to a buddy to make a bowfishing rig out of. smirk

The harder I practice, the luckier I get.

I almost bought a Q2 at a pawn shop last year. I think there is short axle to axle version and a long axle to axle version. To me, that was probably the best bow ever produced, maybe even to this day. It is a killing machine. All my bowhunting buddy's kept theirs and will not part with them. They keep them as back up bows or they still actually hunt with them.

I may be wrong but the short one was a mq2 i think..shaw may know. I really liked those older solocam bows. I shot an ultra 1 for a little while..dang good bow as well..was to big for me tho. I love an outback..it and the feathermax was mathews masterpiece. Ive got an older hoyt havo-tec split limb bow as a backup for my backup which is a v-tec..my main shooter is a nitrum.

The SQ2 was 31” axle to axle. The Q2 was 34” and the Q2XL was 38”. The MQ2 was the shorter version of the MQ1.

I have an old Bear whitetail II that needs a new string job, but not sure who will still sting those!

started out with a fiberglass recurve of some sort, then an Indian Compound, a Bear Polar Ltd., Proline Pt. Blank, Diamond something or other.

Bet Shaw can find someone after the seasons over. From what I hear he can string anything!

Here is a video that I did a while back with my old bow that I started with. It was pretty cool for me to break out the "old stuff" and use it again. I have an older PSE Spirit that I use for bowfishing that I am going to try to do a video with, shooting instinctively. If I am successful, I will post the video for you guys. Good luck out there.

First compound I ever shot was a bear whitetail hunter, I bought one to restore and to hunt with on occasion.

Really enjoy your YT channel brother, this is my favorite video of yours! I’m trying to get into traditional archery and be decent enough to take a recurve to the woods by next fall. Best of luck this season to ya and keep those videos coming.

I still hunt with a 1969 Bear TD recurve that I bought summer of 69 when I graduated high school. It will still kill.
