A little too quick. I got settled in the tree at 5:50 and shoot a racked deer at 6:00. Still a little darker than I like it but I could see my spot and sounded good when it hit and he left out. Bad thing is I heard him hit the creek about 50yrds away. I'm gonna sit right here and hunt a doe until about 9:00 then start the trailing. Hope it's not a long trail.

Let's see some blood!

Another deer hit the creek because I trailed small drops of blood then I found good blood for about 20yrds or so where it looked like I was gonna find him but it just stooped. Can't find another drop. Guess I'm 0 for 1.

Had had a young lady at our place shoot one with her crossbow yesterday. When she got down to trail it she found it had hit the river. She got to looking and saw it floating and headed down stream. She ran back to the cabin and got her kayak, put in and followed it and recovered it. Her first archery kill.

I would not stop looking. I think a lot of deer go unregovered because people stop trying after they’ve looked for a while. If you had real good blood it didn’t just stop. The deer may have turned, changed directions, circled, or a number of other things. I’d still he looking. There’s sign that will lead to the deer somewhere. Good luck.

I’d stay after the buck. Like Matt said, good blood implies at the least a decent and usually fatal hit. Found a doe my buddy shot a few days ago. She’d bled decently for 40-50 yds then it quit. She’d turned off the trail and I found her another 75 yds away only because I was fanning out from site of last blood.

Wish it was hunting season.....year round

Give a man a fish and he eats for a day. Teach a man to fish and he'll sit in a boat and drink beer all day.
