Very sad to see bow season come to a close and the rifle season open up. I will probably stick with my bow throughout the year but it’s just not the same as crisp early season hunts where the woods aren’t crowded with rifle hunters. I find that the more I bowhunt, the more I am forced to learn about woodsmanahip and setups whereas if I have a rifle in my hand I can just tree up on the edge of a clear cut without much thought.. Both are fun but the early season is something special to me.

I keep trying to tell ya'll there's too damn many hunters.
Everyone says, "take a kid hunting" and "introduce someone to hunting".
Screw that noise!! Take em golfing and encourage them to go shopping at the damn mall.
Do us all a favor and stay the hell out of the woods.

First year bow hunting and I can agree it’s peaceful being out there not hearing rifles shots, and does take a little more patience and thinking behind setting up. Heading out here shortly for the evening sit and hoping the wife can stick one.

Same here lol. I love hearing a shot ring off on the property and then getting the “who shot?” Group text. But I’ll hunt however I can.

Put out more corn. It makes bow hunting easier. I have always found bow hunting early season to be much easier than hunting during gun season. The deer are very patternable and easy to locate as food seems to be their #1 priority. During October and early Nov.

Just take both the bow and gun with you.

The rifle hunting is more traditional/social to me. Most of my friends do not bow hunt so it is more of a solitary venture and I get alot of relaxation out of spending time in the woods with just me and the Creator and I enjoy the pretty fall colors. When the guns come out, it's me and my buddies, county fair style spread out on public land having a good time. The two hunting styles are both fun just a little different

Give a man a fish and he eats for a day. Teach a man to fish and he'll sit in a boat and drink beer all day.
