Our food plots with AB are not growing as well this year with the same amount of fertilizer and bags of AB on each plot. Has any other clubs noticed the same?

When did you plant? Do you have other mixes that are doing well? Might be due to colder than usual end of October/first of November.

^^^^ This. It’s much cooler this year then last. Ours are a little slower also. They look good but slow going and that’s the way we like it.

central ala,
I don't do mixes but before a bag of seed goes on my truck from the store, I check the test date and germ rate. Some will slip 2-3 yo seed in it they can and it will have an affect.

Same results with ours. This was our first year using the WMS seed and probably our last. Sucks because we shelled out almost $4k to plant and have had better plots with just wheat. Hopefully what we top seeded before the rain last week starts coming up.

I don’t use the their seed anymore but ours are ate down. With the drought we had this year and no acorn crop when we finally got some rain our jumped up then the deer have been hammering it. When it’s been as cold as it’s been stuff won’t grow to much either but at our place the cold and lack of food in the woods ours are ate down

Any of y’all that seem to be lacking growth use exclusion cages? We used to think our plots didnt grow well until we started using them. Stuff inside the cage was 2 foot high, outside was almost dirt

Hard to say much with confidence without an exclusion cage.

Do you have an exclusion cage out? Deer are hammering our plots. Without one you think they're not doing well.

Same here. We have been very pleased each year with the WMS blends. Planted Deer magnet and it is getting hammered. Fertilized last Thursday and these rains out to help stimulate it some.

Poor germination, 2 years in a row.
Will roll our own next year.

Ours came up pretty good, the deer just won't let it grow. Of course it has only been up about a month.

anyone who says "my food plots aren't coming up" when there has been sufficient rain like this year (as long as you planted late) AND doesn't have an exclusion cage, doesn't really know whether their food plot is coming up or not. You don't even need a fancy exclusion cage. Go find a large branch with lots of small twigs on it and lay it in your plot. The deer will eat around it, and it will probably come up. Deer hammering plots this year because drought knocked back the foods.

Coupled with significantly cooler temps than last year during the past couple weeks

Planted mine 2 weeks ago and have not even germinated. They look like hell. Am I the only one with this issue? Birds got into a lot of mine as well. Anybody have any suggestions?
