central ala,
I can tell the easiest way I ever saw in use. THIS GUY NEVER KILLED ILLEGAL DEER!. This was probably 30 years ago and the guy knew a lot more about electronics than me. His family owned a bunch of land and he was the only hunter. He built a cabin on a pond and put in about 3-4 foodplots. On each foodplot he put a camera on it (think security camera) and ran cable from each to the cabin. Had 3-4live views on 1 moniter. If he saw a deer he wanted to shoot, hed go shoot it. ...just never at night. If he didn't see a deer he and a few friends would just keep cooking out, watching football, and drinking beer.

But he never killed this many big deer and definitely not in this time frame

It’s been 20 years ago or better but I had a family member get into doing a bunch of outlaw chit….eventually went to prison for a lot of it……but him and another guy would get dropped off at primo property with a rifle and a lawn mower battery in a back pack wired to a handheld spotlight. They would go through the property on foot with one shining and the other shooting. . That was back before cell cams and all the new age stuff we have now that someone could put out to alert them when someone was coming through. It’d be tough to catch someone poaching on foot like that. The other guy I think is still in prison for not being able to stop doing outlaw chit.

These days with all the night vision stuff someone could do it without even having to have a spotlight. There are cameras out everywhere now so they’d likely at least be caught on camera and give themselves away. Doucheboy could be doing something similar and just doing it on private land that his mommy and daddy own. He could even be running multiple bait sites and just walking checking them. Hell, he probably don’t even walk…..probably rides a golf cart or something.

🤔Uh.....pretty sure that was “illegal”. Wasn’t there a law against using electronic devices (phones, walkie talkies, etc.) to assist in killing a game animal?

Wasn’t there a law against using electronic devices (phones, walkie talkies, etc.) to assist in killing a game animalS? Paging B’ham Fred...

The source is questionable but I don’t have time to dig through the laws.

central ala,
We may not all agree on what is not right but all agree SOMETHING is not right.

I will believe to the bitter end that he is taunting the sportsmen of Alabama or the DCNR. Maybe both. I also believe TODAY he will be discussed by both and will have brought some unwanted attention to himself. Maybe not today, this month, or even this year, but it's going to bite him. Patience is a virtue grasshopper!

It’ll eventually catch up with him if he keeps it up. He probably doesn’t have any fear of actually getting in trouble yet due to his family’s wealth and pull. That arrogance will be the very thing that keeps him doing it and eventually leads to him being hammered.

It’s illegal to release a live hog once caught. So catching and collaring and releasing would get a person sideways with the law.

I still see nothing distinguishing how this guy's video technique would be deemed illegal and a cellular game camera would be deemed legal. There's nothing in the al.com article you posted that clarifies that, you may be interpreting it that way but that is not at all what it says.

this. Went to school with a guy from mobile that fits your example to a tee. Not going to drop names but he made headline news several years ago when it all went south. He killed some big ass deer growing up for sure.
