Pup is 11 months old now. Put him on his first track this week... He didn't know what to do with the track but once we found the deer he went nuts. Hopefully he will start getting the idea after a few easy tracks.

Might I suggest tracking wounded deer by John jeanenney it's a good read for trackers and dog training and handling

Go to your local deer processor and ask them if they'll save you some livers and leg ends. Use the liver for blood and the legs for the prize at the end and start working him on fake training tracks between the real ones. You'll want to continue to do this in the off season too for the first few years
