I'd make sure to get some quality traps....A lot of folks use the MB-550's....I think North40 has another brand he uses that he's had good success with as well but I can't recall the name of them right now. I'm sure he'll be along eventually. If not send him a PM. There's a trapping store in Ramer that can hook you up with everything you need.

^^^^ do this ....they have much better starter kits . I agree with the MB550’s being a very good trap

For bait I've had real good success with Caven's Hiawatha Valley Predator Bait.

Would Dukes #2 4 spring work for coyotes, bobcats, and fox? Also, would the wolf fang earth anchors work? Trying to get a Christmas wish list together :-) Thanks

Just to get started and see if trapping is something you'll enjoy I'd definitely go with a starter kit like the one from F & T.
If you enjoy it and want to get more up to date equipment then we'll talk about different traps. They'll all catch coyotes but certain traps fit certain trappers better than others.
Now if you want to jump in head first and buy (in my opinion) top of the line traps look up the K9 extreme from No B.S. Lures.

If you want to save a little money over the cost of MB550,.look at Bridger #2 Dogless. If using Wolf.fang anchors, buy the ones on chain rather than cable. Especially if you plan on reusing them. I'm slowly converting all my stuff to drags on 8-10' of.chain. Faster to set and a lot faster to pull.
Haven't used them, but Duke is making a version of the 550 now. Lots of controversy over it, but looks like a decent trap

Try getting pinched by a Bridger #5 4 coiled no offset. Luckily I had a tile spade to support it in the muck and get it off.

I'm fixing to test my YouTube lessons as well. I have a pack that comes through my yard every night, they run a logging road behind my house every single night and I watch them run the tree lines in the fields in front of my house a ton as well. They stay on my cameras and I haven't seen a fawn in the 3 years since I bought the land.
My hope is i can be at least a tiny bit successful and my boy can help me and we can add this to the list of fun stuff.
We are not perfect, only forgiven!!!

When you connect it's an awesome feeling, especially when you have a "connection" to your catch. Last Sunday I was putting in some new sets along a road that I had already made a couple of catches. Had put in one bait stick set and was competing another. Lots of banging hammering in the anchors. Was at the back of my Rodeo with the rear glass up and look up the road to see a coyote walking down the road towards. My .22 was on the front seat and I was contemplating climbing through the back window.to get my gun. But the coyote veered off the road before I could climb up. Had this big female at the first bait stick set this morning. Nothing moved Thursday night after that big front came through. Pretty amazed at how well the lure held up to that big rain we had. Pretty sure this is the coyote that walked up on me last weekend. Was seeing one adult coyote track and occasionally a couple of pups with it.

Trapping is totally addicting. It is like Christmas going to check your traps.
