I've owned a couple of 270s. My current one is a Rem 700 Classic with very nice wood. It is my go to deer killer. I have killed a buck at 625 yards with it, and a bunch from 350-500 yards.

I like a .270 a lot. Every deer I’ve shot with one was DRT. I hunt with a 270wsm now but still love the original.

You know the best thing about a 30-06? Converting it to 338-06 😂😂

The 338-06 is even better if you AI it. 👍

Kinda surprised nobody's done a .270 in .308 case. We called it the .270 Popper cause it Popped whatever was shot. Used medium burners down to W760 and h4350. It didn't care for h4831 so we stopped fooling around with it.

57 yes but the 7x57 or .275 Rigby. I understand Al Biesen did a 7x57 for Mrs.O'Connor and she killed a big elk with 160 Partitions

In the December 1943 issue of Outdoor Life, he wrote, “Assuming that a cartridge can make its way on merit alone, that cartridge is the .270 W.C.F. In its early years it sat in the corner, dressed in sackcloth and covered with ashes, while few riflemen suspected that underneath it had a figger like Miss America, a disposition like an angel, and that it could bake pies like Mother used to make.”

"I'm not near as critical about how big they are as I once was. Smiles are more important now! We will grow more deer."

Man, I had a 270 briefly last spring. I been shooting short actions now for better part of 10 years. It’s softened me up. I was once a dyed in the wool 30/06 guy. I found that 270 knocked me around more than I liked.
Make mine a .243, 7-08, .308 or 6.5. I’m out on long actions.
