What ever y’all like is fine with me. Where are y’all hunting this year. Cuz pat I have some property I hunt in your area. It’s just north of Ralph .

I hunt Tuscaloosa and Fayette counties.

I hunt basically all over the state. I'm in a small club in Dallas county, but I hunt a lot of public land as well.

I'm hunting AL and IL this year. Hunting opening day here and then heading to IL later this week

Well good luck to you guys this season. I’m looking forward to it. I’ll be hunting Shelby , Greene and st Clair counties . A friend of mine drew a soa hunt for upper state sanctuary for February and he invited me to go . Pretty excited about that.

I drew an SOA hunt at Cedar Creek Jan 2-5. Went dow Saturday to scope it out and was impressed to say rhe least. My unit has a very nice metal shooting house over looking a wide and long open area next to the river. I am psyched for that hunt! I will slso be making the rounds to several of the northern wma's this year too. I cant wait for bow season and some cooler weather to roll around. Good luck to all of you.

Guru I use to hunt a little south of cedar creek . That’s a heck of area. If you don’t kill anything just run about 60 mph down hwy 41 where Cedar creek crosses.. guaranteed !

Good luck on your trip Todd. I’ve been seeing a bunch of deer just not the right one. I’ve been hunting a bachelor group of bucks with the biggest being a 130” 9 pt. Well I had all off them in front of me this evening and a dang Spike spotted me... bachelor groups are hard to hunt.

Had 3 of those around me Thursday morning just we are buck only til next
next Friday. Also had a small 6 that morning at 20 steps.

i passed on 3 small bucks in IL. The big boys still need a week or so to get on their feet.

heading back up to IL early saturday morning. going to be there for 7 days. heres hoping.

Man everybody I know is headed north in the next couple days.. all work and no play for me. Good luck

well, we are at it for the youth hunt, i assume any deer we take will not count since it is my son doing the shooting, but we are hoping for the best.

nah, he missed one late saturday. i have been after them as much as possible, but work has got me out of the woods. I am trying to find a few hunts this week and i am taking off 3 days next week, as the rut is about to kick off where we are.

Passed on a 2 yr old 7 pt yesterday morning, back at it again this eve

I haven't been able to go since Saturday. Spent half the day today trying to replace my dang cellphone I broke yesterday. Hoping to get lucky in the morning. I'm saving most of my time away from the family for after Christmas. December 26th,,,,,its on !

rut is starting to kick off around our area, hopefully have something soon.

Sorry about not checking in. Fell back during bow season hurt shoulder aND had to turn bow down and site it in.
Missed a doe and never could get another in close enough to shoot.
Now only seeing does with yearlings and little bucks.
Now I just had to have surgery on artery in my leg but will back by Jan.

slow go the last few weeks. a buddy killed the big 10 pt we were after and things slowed drastically at that point. hoping to get a doe for us in the next week or so

I've been seeing deer just no bigguns yet.

i am trying to make the doe happen for us, but where i was seeing them, now they are gone

Checking in. It's been tough this year work wise, I haven't been out as much as I wanted. With that being said, im at Cedar Creek on my last morning. The first day was during the monsoon, the second saw only a few hours with little movement with 16 mph winds. I saw 4 fairly big does around 2pm that were too far away to get a good shot. Im on unit 5 with a buddy and a good chuck of yhe easter side is under water still. We figured out how the deer are moving around the flooded section. So we are about to head out and stage ourselves to the eastern side just beliw the flooded area. We saw a lot of scrapes on one thin section that were new . God willing, in about 3 hours we will catch them trying the end around. The roads have been dug up quit a bit by the bigger trucks trying to get in and out. A couple of sections the axle must have dragged the ground. My Polaris 600 sporstman has been great since I rebuilt the carburetor. With having to carry gear abd two hefty men has handled the ruts in the roads pretty well. With the cold weather this morning I'm feeling more confident of success. I hope you guys are all doing well. Wish ud luck!

I have hunted as hard during the holiday period and our rut as I ever have. I have seen a few bucks but no shooters, mostly young stuff. I have not seen one single mature buck that I would shoot this whole year long. Its been a real unusual year at our club. We have the lowest number of deer sightings and deer kills that I have seen in the 16 years I have been a member there.

But its not over yet. Gonna keep after them every Saturday until season ends. Hopefully one will show for me sooner or later.

I put a tape to my bucks 9th point today. Technically, by the contest rules here, I'm going to list him as an 8 point. He has a 9th point but it is only 3/4" long. So, for the contest I'll call him an 8 point and for myself I'll call him a 9 point. He has an inside spread greater than 12" and he has 3 tines longer than 6". He weighed 165 lbs.

After my drought, I was really glad to be able to finally see a club legal buck and get to kill him.

nice one! i am hoping to add a doe to the mix this week or next. on 2 of the properties it has closed as of 12/31. hunting with a friend next week to see if i can bag one.

That's a fine buck Cruz. I like that little unit you have the deer in . Can't say I've seen one.

It's called a VersaHoist.

Guy up in Tennessee builds them.

The rack is hinged on the bottom back side and when you don't have a deer or anything in it you can fold it up. Has a hand winch that you flip the lever on and let the rack all the way to the ground. Drag your deer into the rack, flip the lever, and winch him up.

No lifting whatsoever.

It is pinned to a set of mounts that bolt to your front rack on the ATV. If you want to take the whole unit off of the ATV then you pull the pins and slide it off. The mounts stay attached to the ATV.

I love it. No more lifting a deer for me onto the back rack of my 4-wheeler. Some of the best coin I have ever spent on deer hunting equipment.

The contest rules does not say "antlerless". It specifically mentions doe and buck. My guess is "no", it cannot be counted but you may want to get clarification from Ronnie.

Even though a buttonhead is an antlerless deer it is still a buck.

Here is the buck I killed a while back. If I don't kill one bigger this weekend I enter him in the contest.

Thanks Ronnie. I am with you. maybe next year make it anterless instead of a doe. Of course, i was trying for a doe and had 4 in the field, but picked the wrong one to shoot.

I know I have not been in touch. Surgery went good did not want me climbing so sat in chair a lot.
Nothing to shoot but got us a few points this weekend.
Finally got the ok to climb 3 weeks ago.
Killed a 5 point (one brow tine broken) Saturday 17 inch inside but still a young deer and a doe yesterday.
Did not see a deer this morning.
Congrats to all that killed!! hope next year will be better health wise.
