well, we are at it for the youth hunt, i assume any deer we take will not count since it is my son doing the shooting, but we are hoping for the best.

nah, he missed one late saturday. i have been after them as much as possible, but work has got me out of the woods. I am trying to find a few hunts this week and i am taking off 3 days next week, as the rut is about to kick off where we are.

Passed on a 2 yr old 7 pt yesterday morning, back at it again this eve

I haven't been able to go since Saturday. Spent half the day today trying to replace my dang cellphone I broke yesterday. Hoping to get lucky in the morning. I'm saving most of my time away from the family for after Christmas. December 26th,,,,,its on !

rut is starting to kick off around our area, hopefully have something soon.

Sorry about not checking in. Fell back during bow season hurt shoulder aND had to turn bow down and site it in.
Missed a doe and never could get another in close enough to shoot.
Now only seeing does with yearlings and little bucks.
Now I just had to have surgery on artery in my leg but will back by Jan.

slow go the last few weeks. a buddy killed the big 10 pt we were after and things slowed drastically at that point. hoping to get a doe for us in the next week or so

Checking in. It's been tough this year work wise, I haven't been out as much as I wanted. With that being said, im at Cedar Creek on my last morning. The first day was during the monsoon, the second saw only a few hours with little movement with 16 mph winds. I saw 4 fairly big does around 2pm that were too far away to get a good shot. Im on unit 5 with a buddy and a good chuck of yhe easter side is under water still. We figured out how the deer are moving around the flooded section. So we are about to head out and stage ourselves to the eastern side just beliw the flooded area. We saw a lot of scrapes on one thin section that were new . God willing, in about 3 hours we will catch them trying the end around. The roads have been dug up quit a bit by the bigger trucks trying to get in and out. A couple of sections the axle must have dragged the ground. My Polaris 600 sporstman has been great since I rebuilt the carburetor. With having to carry gear abd two hefty men has handled the ruts in the roads pretty well. With the cold weather this morning I'm feeling more confident of success. I hope you guys are all doing well. Wish ud luck!

I have hunted as hard during the holiday period and our rut as I ever have. I have seen a few bucks but no shooters, mostly young stuff. I have not seen one single mature buck that I would shoot this whole year long. Its been a real unusual year at our club. We have the lowest number of deer sightings and deer kills that I have seen in the 16 years I have been a member there.

But its not over yet. Gonna keep after them every Saturday until season ends. Hopefully one will show for me sooner or later.
