I found a few old maps digging around before hunting season. This was back when you actually seen deer. See if you can figure it out what happened to the population, because evidently the people in charge cannot.

Back then Only 6 days of gun hunts an bucks only. Now open weeks at time an kill everything you see. Last few years here in lauderdale management area an freedom hill there has been a biologist in control that believes it should be a 1 doe to 1 buck ratio. He retired now. Can t hardly see a deer any more in lauderdale . He has let every
One shoot every thing. Last year they was complaining bout not having many hunters show up. The state forever wild foundation owns most of land now an they doing some logging. Should be thick areas in future to hold some deer . I can remeber back
In 80s after the restocking program. There would over 80 to 90 deer killed on a two day hunt an all bucks. Since then with antler restrictions an all the does days . Not many killed. I thought with antler reatrictions would be some good deer killed but not many. Not many local people hunt there because they have more deer on their own lease

They have definitely destroyed the deer population.

Probably blame it on CWD

You mean before you could pile does up like cord wood?!? Crazy no one could foresee how slaughtering every doe seen would decimate the population in most areas.

So do we want more or less regulation from the government? Seems like the perception on here is less regulation. Who is the best stewards of the land? History has proved that hunters will wipe out pupulations if not regulated.

History has also proven that the 'regulators' will entice the hunters to wipe out populations.

Fact!

I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

What does that even mean? Hunters are killing more deer cause doe limits are liberal? Are you suggesting they would shoot less if there was no regulations on doe harvest?

What I mean is that a lot of hunters in Marshall County tried for years to get the doe days cancelled. The game wardens refused to listen. Then, along about 2000, they did a survey (after hunters complained for YEARS about declining numbers) and determined that the herd had been decimated to 1980s numbers. So, what I said was that those that set the regulations encouraged the decimation of the local deer herd.

So the hunters wanted does days to be canceled cause they saw populations were declining but decided to go ahead and shoot does just because there was a doe season?

I guess you want more gov regulation in hunting then? IE stricter regulations of doe harvest because if season is open hunters don’t have enough self control to not shoot everything they see?
