Left johns pass in Redington shores with my bro in law at 4:00 am this morning. Got our brains beat out for 40 miles but it paid off. 1 mutton snapper, 3 mangos, and 14 yellow tail snapper. Also caught lots of small amberjacks, small jacks and a strawberry grouper. Back at the house by noon and soaking wet and damn glad to be back on solid.

Just sitting over mitigation area chumming like hell and drifting back live shrimp. Tried some small pin fish for mangos but they dipped out when the sun came up. Had the yellow tails thick about 100 yards back.

Those look like some good size yts. Pretty nice mangrove too

Light flouro leader and live shrimp seem to be the bait of choice for snapper in that area these days. Long gone are the days of fish finder rig 2 oz weights and cut cigar minnows

Yeah he’s a little older and stuck in his ways on the jig head and short leader. I run 30# braid on a 6500 penn spinner with 12-15 ft of 20 lb flouro a 2/0 circle and a very small split shot about 2 ft up. When we had them thick in the slick I was ahead on strikes 2 to 1.
