How would they know I haven't sold all my AR's and other Semi Autos?
I actually sold all my evil weapons.

I agree, ammo would be the easiest way to put the pinch on gun owners unfortunately.

If ever the leftists can get the ban ball rolling again, the way they want, you’ll maybe be allowed single-shot weapons. Sure, at first it will just be the black guns, but then some looney will go shoot up a school with a lever action and, for the sake of the children, those will have to go. Some politician will get shot with someone’s bolt action and suddenly highly accurate sniper rifles must go. It won’t end.

Mdees, that's an extreme but that fits the "Who needs one of those?" group.

"Who needs a semi-auto shotgun when a single shot would do? Who needs a semi-auto rifle, lever action or bolt action that holds multiple rounds when a single-shot rifle would do for hunting? Besides, "real hunters" use bows and arrows, or that's what they say in their chat sites. So who needs a gun when a bow or crossbow works for hunting deer or other game?"

And there you go.

They wouldn't care one iota about the excise taxes or how they benefit the states. They don't care now that fees from waterfowl stamps, for example, help with habitat. They don't give a fig about the Farm Bill and Conservation Reserve Program, when it's funded, or other CRP-type programs for wildlife and habitat.

Their idea of habitat conservation is "preservation" like in California -- let the animals be, let "the governement" take care of any problems, no timber or burning management (see national forests, lack of anything substantial) -- and anything lost from excise taxes during their hoped-for confiscation could be made up in other ways. They just banned trapping in California. It's only a matter of time before they start banning hunting of certain animals, going one by one on the list.

You're thinking logically about the excise taxes and what they support. They don't, and don't care.

If they do try to ban magazine fed rifles they will go after the deer rifles. They will just call them sniper rifles because of their accuracy. Bottom line is don't give them an inch to start with
