Upper Delta gate is open. No black panthers seen. Did find a bomb. Well that's what my mind said at first. I could have killed 4 squirrels if I would have had my .22 with me. I just went over there to take a walk. Water is extremely low. Some areas are having fish kills and you can smell it. It has been extremely dry. Overcups are already dropping and that seems to be what the deer and hogs are focused on. No permit maps at the kiosk as of yet so print your own out if you go in. I saw a doe coming out. Saw plenty of wildlife. The place is a rare gem for sure. Saw a few rare snakes and plants I haven't seen in decades. The tracks are alligator tracks. Tree is the biggest persimmon I have ever seen.

Have no idea what half the plants are called. I know Indians used to cultivate one of the swamp lilies. I'm sure skinny knows the name of it. Saw a 3' long garter snake that I was able to get a pic of. The yellow touches black king snake was too fast for me. I'll ask Bill Finch in the morning what that ball of red balls is. Have no clue. He has a gardening show on 106.5 in mobile. Starts at 9.

Next weekend I'm going in there with a fishing pole and a .22 and my 5 year old daughter. We're going to catch some fish, kill some squirrels, and cook em on the grill. Just as long as she has ketchup she'll eat anything.

Cool beans. I think your bomb is a bouy.

Fur nailed it, that's a channel buoy. Globe wasn't easy to find by water before the interstate was put in. Well, not for me anyway. I still remember them cutting it thru in around 72-73. For the record, tying up to a channel marker will get you a hefty ticket.

Life is too short to only hunt and fish on weekends!

I'm just north of Upper Delta and I haven't seen it this dry in years. We normally hold a lot of water and it's bone dry!

It's so dry the buoy is out looking for water.

I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

Kind of amazing since it was all basically under water from November through late May.
