Do any of y'all have any experence with Wilburn Outdoors in Cullman? He seems to have some good prices on seed mix and was wondering before I make the drive. I've gotta overseed my pastures and he has a mix I'm interested in.

Dennis advertised here for many years but he decided to stop. However, when he was an advertiser he paid his tab on time and there was never any trouble.

He’s never sold a damn thing that’s certified. It’s all a combine run non certified mix. What a mess

Years ago I bought a bunch of bruzzie rye dirt cheap with weevils and it came up fine. But i knew what I was getting. And it was for cattle

Growing up in cullman it was the only outdoors/ hunting place we had. I’ve bought a fair amount hunting gear from them over the years and I have never had any issues. However, I have never bought any grain, feed, or seed nor used any of his outfitting services.

year before last I bought from him early. I think we picked it up the first week of september and stored it in a cool basement for 3 or 4 weeks. It was combine run and full of weevils. We ended up having to replant 90% of ours. I wont take that gamble again. Its too much work for the small savings you get. At the very least I would not buy from him early so you arent getting the leftovers from the year before.

Never met him but I do have an observation about his very few posts on here. All I will say is that when he was a sponsor he only posted about his sales and his business. Never really participated in threads. It was all about buying his stuff. That's like the guy who goes to a business networking event and walks around shoving business cards in people's faces telling them to buy his stuff. If you look at the other sponsors on here they're pretty active on threads. Their posts are not just self promotion. They are active participants on this site. He may have good products for all I know. That's a judgement you need to make for yourself. As someone who was in the hunting supply and food plot seed distribution business, It is a tough business. Good luck. grin

I bought some soybeans he had listed on here a few years ago. Great price, but the germination sucked. I think I planted 20 acres of his right next to 30 acres of eagle. The eagle beans could have been used for a magazine ad and the wilborn beans were really sparse and poor.

They attributed it to the drought on ours but, we did the same as you and some of the guys had bought some of the high $ blends they wanted to plant. Their part of the field looked good with their mix, our other side was sparse or non existent.

When Dennis's dad ran the store it was better, then dennis and his dad split. When dennis took over and his shady business practices from shafting people at shows, to shafting locals, it's a wonder how he stays in Business. If his boy would take over and send dennis down the road it would a different place. His boy is a good guy

I’ve bought seed and fertilizer from him and never had an issue at all.

Yeah he said it was the drought when I called to complain. I said one side of a field had a drought and the other side looked awesome.

Knew he was full of poo right then and there.

Is he the guy that turned them domestic turkeys loose, to hunt. Seems like I remember a thread about that and some dove hunts. I'm not positive though and it could of totally been someone else. Does anyone remember that thread?
