I’ve always followed the rules and laws regarding hunting....but I am not buying my son a $15 permit. They can write a ticket and I will spend the money to fight it. Yes paying the $15 would be cheaper but I’m tired of the money grab

Just curious but how would they enforce a ticket written to a minor?

I love the insurance analogy.

It’s kind of like the local arsonist selling fire insurance.

That shitty sales pitch is useless when the people who actually want to buy it can't get it.

DCNR website is back up and running now.

By the way, resident hunting license fees increased, resident fishing license fees increased and you now have to pay the $15.00 for the right to bait that the State calls a privilege.

Pay an additional $5.00 and get you a hard copy credit card style license. grin

They even have a hard copy license to celebrate the inaugural baiting privilege passage with a hog and deer I assume at a bait pile.

Chuckie and gang gonna be rollin' in all that extra money!

Reckon we can count on them to use it wisely in sound conservation efforts throughout our state?

in the real world they can't. In a libetard fantasy world the GW could go to the Juvenile Court and sign a petition for the violation. The GW cannot write the minor or the adult a ticket. The parent would be sent a notice to bring said minor to Juvenile Court for a Juvenile hearing before the Juvenile Court Judge. In a lot of rural counties this judge is the same as the District Court Judge.

in the real world the Juvenile Judge would throw the case out and threaten the GW with jail time if he brought another case like that before the court.

A minor can get a speeding ticket why not a baiting ticket? At what age would you guys like to enforce wildlife violations? I know plenty of 12-17 year olds that have put out their own stands and own bags of corn, and killed deer over them prior to this law. If they had be caught Should they have been exempt from getting a ticket? I’m excited about the opportunity to hunt the aid of bait, and I have no problem with paying the $15.

In juvenile proceedings concerning game and fish violations, the juvenile can have a ticket written to them. In order to pursue a delinquent complaint/petition the ticket can and some times does serve as the legally required complaint. The game warden presents the ticket and/or signs a prepared complaint before a juvenile intake officer/magistrate. There, they also sign the petition and it is up to the intake officer/magistrate to determine how to handle that matter. In most instances they are handled outside of court with the majority normally handled through the informal adjustment process. The juvenile and parent can and most often are assessed fines that are paid to various funds the court oversees. Here we have The Children's Fund. Personally, I normally order the purchase of a lifetime hunting or fishing license in lieu of those fees paid to other funds. The vast majority of juvenile cases are handled without them going before a judge.

This is the same process as those traffic violations pursued against juveniles under the age of 16, in which tickets such as driving without a license and other such infractions are charged.

“It doesn’t matter if you’re 7 or 107"

How many seven year old kids do you know that could tote a 50lb sack of corn 150 yards? How many can drive?

Likewise, I don't know if a 100 year old guy could tote a sack of corn. I would hope he is not driving.

I honestly don’t understand the fuss. There are three scenarios and everyone will fall in one and can hunt as they please

If you are/we’re hunting legally (either with no bait or feeding 100 yards out of line of sight) and want to continue hunting that way, don’t buy the permit.

If you have been illegally baiting and would rather pay $15 up front to avoid a ticket, buy the permit.

If you have been hunting over bait illegally and want to keep on hoping you won’t get caught, don’t buy the permit

Get y’all panties out of a wad
