The Lawrence County High School Baseball Booster Club is hosting a dove hunt in Hillsboro, Al opening day, 7 Sep 2019. The cost is $15.00 per hunter with 10 and under being free. Registration is at 10:00 and hunting begins at Noon.

The hunt is on County Road 377 which is off Co Rd 217. For those familiar with the area, 217 is "Hillsboro Road". We dropped a pin at the field and it shows the address as 6609 County Road 377, Hillsboro Al 35618. I can send the pin to anyone interested. Physical directions are below:

From Hwy 20; take 217 South, Co Rd 377 will be about 1.3 miles on the right. Follow 377 until the road splits, go right at the split, and the field will be 0.6 miles on the right.

From Hwy 24: Take 217 North, Co Rd 377 will be about 8.2 miles on the left. Follow 377 until the road splits, go right at the split, and the field will be 0.6 miles on the right.

I'm going to get a map of the field if I can get someone to post it up for me. I can't get to the hosting sites from here.

Do you need to prepay or when you get there? How many people can he hold?

Are they going to cap the total number of hunters? Are there any birds?

I went to a hunt about 3 miles down the road last year for east Lawrence softball. There was plenty of room there. Not nearly as many people as I expected. I would imagine it will be the same for this one

These are my thoughts. We done one year before last on about the same size field and we could have used more hunters.

Big Al, you will pay when you get there. As far as I know, there are no plans to cap the hunters. I haven't seen the field myself. I'm going to try and ride by there this weekend. 257 knows the field, maybe he can estimate how many hunters it will hold. I'm not sure about the birds, I haven't rode by. I'm not actually planning it.......I'm the messenger to get the word out on here. But I will pass your questions on to the VP of the booster club.

I talked to the VP, he said it was about 100 acres, no cap and there is a smaller field down the road that he thinks we can use as well. He said there were birds there earlier this week. I hope they hold for another week.

The field is being cut either today or tomorrow. It would hold 60 or so hunters easily.

How are the birds looking?

Any word on if the birds are flying?

Sorry for the late replies. I was out of pocket yesterday.

The VP went out Wednesday. He said the birds were sparse. He did say he saw a ton in two small fields just down from this one. I hope they come in better.
