Looking for some info. I have read some horrible things about CVA muzzleloaders and the only specific report I read about the CVA Hunter breech action was a 2010 article really slamming the apex and scout models by CVA. Wondering if anybody has first hand or current info on the CVA Hunter or Scout line. I'm looking for a light compact affordable rifle and the CVA is that on paper. Thinking a 243 or 6.5 Creed. THANKS

I have hunters in 223, 7mm08 and 35 rem. Scout in 243. Really the same rifle with the exception of the action release. I really like them for their small size and weight. All of mine but the 223 came off gunbroker and are SS.

My 8 yr old totes a CVA Scout in 44mag and can shoot your eyes out with it. Haven’t had any issues with it over 2years.

The CVA Hunter is superb quality. Very accurate, lightweight, just meat and potatoes, nothing fancy.
I like them. I wouldn't mind having a collection of them in various calibers.

I would buy several more calibers if they had them. You would think they would at least have a 30-30 in the line up. Rossi used to have a 7.62x39. if CVA made one id buy one for a beater truck gun.

CVA makes some very accurate rifles. Their parent company also owns the Bergara barrel plant, so I'll let you connect the dots.

Great info.. So what is the going rate for a FFL transfer? What would be a general estimate cost of shipping if not free??

Frikin Pawn shop wanted $40 for transfer which to me seemed high??? I understand that aint a bunch but thats 20% cost of gun. I'm assuming 10% state tax when ordered online now? Trying to figure out if its cheaper or no diff just to hit BP or academy..

Transfers in my area range from free to $25 for regular firearms. Class 3 generally $50

The ones I have seen have decent triggers. Seem to be nice single shot rifles.

My daughter shoots a CVA Scout V2 compact in 7mm-08 and it is one handy accurate little rifle. The little booger follows me to my treestand every now and then. It will shoot 3/4” groups at 100 yards with fusions.
