2008 (I think) Foreman 500. Foot Shift. I've been pretty good about trying to crank and run it at least once a week until recently. Like a moron, I've let it sit for about 8 weeks since I cranked it. This morning, went to load it up to go to the hunting club and couldn't get it to crank.

Tried for several minutes and the starter would spin but wouldn't fire. After trying for several minutes, it just "all of a sudden" stopped turning over. Nothing happens when you hit the start button and there is no power to the screen when the key is on. The starter never slowed down like a low battery, just one minute it was spinning, next it wasn't. Tried several times to pull-start it but no luck.

Put a battery charger on it and the battery charger shows 75% but still not even getting any power to the screen, much less cranking. Y'all think the battery is just shot or something else? I'm hoping it wouldn't pull start just because it hadn't been ran in a while, but I'm no expert. This is the first time I've ever had any issue with it cranking at all.

I'm no mechanic I just watch YouTube videos. Battery,ground,stator,rectifier,corroded terminals,loose wire,crank position sensor. I think that covers most issues but someone will tell us what I've missed.Ghost Rabbit on here has a shop in North Bama and unlike me he actually knows how to work on these things.

Check and make sure the Red OFF-ON-OFF switch is in the "On" position.

Mines been notorious for switching itself to the "OFF" side all by itself.

As for the no power to screen- Check all your wires and battery clamps by undoing and handling each one, Not by "just looking at them".

i accidentally hit mine riding thru the woods one day took me nearly 30 mins to figure it out I thought i was screwed

You blew a fuse and need to change spark plugs

Also check your gas selector and make sure it's not been turned to "Off" or "reserve".

It will crank with it in off to check it, with fuel in the carb, but later on will run out and not crank.

When you last ran it did you turn the fuel line off ? If you have gas going to engine & still no start, try a quick shot of ether to the breather if you have it.

Had the battery tested at Dixie Battery hoping it was the easy answer. Battery tested good, guy told me I didn't need to buy a new one.

One thing of note: when trying to pull start it, the screen would come on for a second but go back off since it wouldn't fire.

Deadeye you still thinking fuse given the above?

Test the plug for spark.

Two different problems is my guess.
Problem 1. Ethanol gas. That's why it wouldn't run
Problem 2. The numerous cranking attempts dropped the starter circuit relay.

I only run ethanol free in it so that's a non issue. I'm about to check the main fuse if I can find it. Buddy told me its usually about 10-12" from battery so hopefully that's all it is.

I think the fuse, and you have a broken wire somewhere for the no power.

Non ethanol gas and always turn the fuel off and let it run all the fuel out when you shut it down if your not going to run it again for a week or more. The electrical problem sounds like you burnt a relay or something. Get you a test light and follow the hots.

So I chchecked the fuse. according to the diagrams I found, this one is ththe main. It WAS blown. However the one in that spot was a 15, and all the diagrams show it being a 30....is it possible that the fuse being too small is the only issue and nothing else?

Yes, a lower amp fuse to get by and not replaced could easily cause your problems.

Put a 30 amp in there if that is what it recommends.

I'll grab some 30s and see. Hopefully the repeated attempts to crank it on an undersized fuse is all and I dont have a short somewhere too

I believe I have some 30s, but it may be quicker to go to store for you.
