I’ve always used leupold mounts and haven’t had any problems whatsoever out of them. However, I just bought and older savage 110 in 7mag with a flat rear reciever and can’t seem to find the leupold mounts for them so I may need to swap things up on this one

I use a picatinny rail and Leupold Mark 4 rings.

Never had all the problems with mounts and rings that everyone else seems to have either.

I like Burris Signature rings myself but the bases can be universal dovetail for all I care... all the way up to picatinny rails. The most important thing is setting it up properly with the height and eye relief.

What I am saying is don't convince yourself you need Talley's just because that's what the cool kids put on their rifles and wind up with a scope that is not properly setup.

DNZ are fugly. Just don't go there.

Some of us have been using Talleys for decades, because they work....not because somebody wanted to label them ‘cool’. They check a lot of boxes that other setups can’t or won’t.

I like the fact that Talley Lightweights are base and ring in one set with no connection between.

Been using them for years with zero problems. I only use rails and rings if I want to do +20 MOA on the rifle, or if I can't buy Talley to fit.

DNZ does the same thing, just looks awful.

Struck a nerve with the Talley comment I see....

I'm going to say something about a Ruger shooting better than a Tikka next... be ready!

Just recently went to talleys. Leupolds before that with no problems.

Mark me as one of the “cool kids” that likes Talley

install a picatinny rail properly bedded to the rifles receiver and you open up alot more doors for rings I use Vortex precision rings.

Thanks for the recommendations guys. I’m looking into all of them. I like the idea of the picatinny rail but dang they are high... didn’t think I’d have to put $100 into just mounts, but I may

Talley one piece for a hunting rifle. If you need 20 MOA, go rail and rings.

DNZ. Last time I checked, the deer weren't too concerned about how purty my rifle was.

Functionality and affordability > fashionability

That's what I don't understand. DNZ mounts cost more than Talley, have less options for height and tube size, and look hideous. What's the advantage?

That's why I'll never buy a Tikka.

Tikkas are gorgeous compared to savages.

DNZs best stuff are the hunter model ring sets that resemble Talleys. Their one-piece setups have skinny rings, that are too much like mini hose clamps, to me.....I’d rather see the pressure spread out more and have 4- screws on the corners, torqued correctly, than a couple on long screws. That’s just a personal thing. DNZs always seem to work as intended.

I like talleys and dnz. No where near me carry’s talleys. I have to order them. Not a big deal but lots of times I buy at B&B pawn in Gadsden and they carry DNZ. I like those guys and usually buy a set of DNZ when I buy a rifle there.

I've got a Tikka T3x with DNZ's. They look good on the rifle and the wood looks better than than three of my Browning's with a wood stock. There is no doubt in my mind that Y'all would say the same if you looked at them side by side. If I knew how to post pics I would pull them out of the safe, take a pic, and post them and I promise that you would say the Tikka looks the best out of them all.

Depends on the rifle.

A Savage long action is hard to mount most scopes on due to the width of the bases, unless you use a pic rail and rings

Most of the time I use Leupold standard bases and rings. I'm about to scope a Vanguard and will be using lightweight Talleys

As has been mentioned, DNZ mounts are solid, but damn, they are ugly.
